Donations, site and server updates

#1  Postby LIFE » Apr 27, 2011 3:54 pm

Hey there, long time no see!

My main headache is that the site running slow at the moment (for the past weeks actually), in terms of speed.
We will have some nice hardware upgrades during the next days, also I will tweak the database performance a bit, clean up the mess :D

In May we will have one major switch to a new, fresh look of the site and FINALLY incl our new logo :dopey:

As for donations, some of you have asked:

On May 1st the next server hosting bill arrives, so anyone who wants drop in a penny or two, now is the time
Any help is appreciated as my private savings and the accumulated money so far is running a little low.

Either head over to this page Donate
or go to http://www.paypal.com, login and transfer any amount you like to info@rationalskepticism.org

Be sure to enter your username if you want me to switch you to the donators group.

Hope you are all good! More to come soon...

Any suggested donation amount?

LIFE, you're back, hi there, welcome home. There have been little weirdnesses here and there on the site, I bet you'll have us tuned and lubed and running better than ever in no time. I would offer you one of my special bouquets in honor of your return, but they keep binning them, the pricks....

Donation to follow, the value for the bucks is about as good as it gets.

I don't understand why, it's a lovely looking bouquet. Maybe the flowers are prickly?

Not surprised site is running slow when we're regularly getting 1000-word posts quoted and nested with the addition of a couple of words (if we're lucky) or just a smiley. The DELETE button is there for a reason, folks! Don't be scared to edit your posts for fear of some muppet accusing you of quote mining.
