Guys, I think the science/news links that you post on your facebook wall are very tweet-friendly, so long as you shorten the urls and use shorter descriptions. If it is not too much trouble for you to repost them, I think you could make the twitter account much more interesting that way. You might even get some non-member followers eventually.
