Forum bug fixes and updates

#1  Postby LIFE » Dec 16, 2010 12:13 am

The last few days our server got some package updates (mainly SQL, webserver, PHP etc.) and now it's time for the forum.

These fixes and patches will include:
  • Removal of the 'Link back to original post' quote function
As it happened many users struggled with quoting appropriately due to the added ID number resulting in SQL errors and disjointed posts. Apart from that it didn't work 100% of the time and misquoted the wrong posts even though the quote itself was linked correctly. So I'd figure it'd be best to remove it again, back to the roots so to speak.
  • Increase in page loading times and overall forum/script speed.
  • Better cache handling
  • Less overhead
  • More compressed images for even faster load times.
  • Some security fixed for the board software.
  • No more empty pages when threads are moved.

The above should result in a noticable speed boost, or so I hope :dopey:

I apologize in advance if the forum should go awry during the next days, please bare with me :shifty:
Rest assured I'll try to fix errors asap should they come up.

Cheers

This is just downright prejudice against bugs! Bugs are the most successful taxa in the world! Over a million species. Shame on you, Mr Life!
Good, work, but are you sure about the "bare" bit, or do you crave our patience :ask:
If it 'tis other, then we can be a forum of nudist rational skeptics! ;) ;)
I would be bare on the forum, but I don't think others could bear it. :naughty2:
Good work!

Does the placebo effect translate to forum function?

Haven't got a fucking clue what you just said but thanks for doing whatever it is you are doing.  If this place stops working and I lose this input I will have to do something else... I like this place.
The problem with fantasies is you can't really insist that everyone else believes in yours, the other problem with fantasies is that most believers of fantasies eventually get around to doing exactly that.

Gee and I thought I was the only one who posted in the nude ! :smug:
