I think it's because I'm a verbal person and here the words in my head as I type them and that typing is almost subconscious that I often mix up homonyms. Maybe I'll pose this question in the psychology forum one day. And I did not go back to correct "here" with "hear" on purpose, but the mistake was made on accident.

The classic case I was told in Psychology class was of the tutor's friend at a party talking to a person who had a huge nose, and being fascinated by it but not wanting to say anything embarrassing. Everything was going swimmingly until it was time to refill the drinks, at which point he offered "Would you like some ice in your nose?" It is the accidental saying of something on your mind that you didn't intend to reveal that makes a Freudian slip, not any similarity to the word intended.[/derail]
