Polish pyramids!?!

#1  Postby tnjrp » Jun 08, 2010 8:59 am

Ok, I know there are pyramids all over, such as in North Africa (Egypt being the most usual "suspect"), Middle East, Far East (including but not limited to China), Central America and so on and so forth. Some even think there is a humungous one in Bosnia.

But today was the first time I heard about the Polish pyramids:

Now I would like to find some pix and maybe also more articles of the said strcutures but appearently my google fu is weak. So... Anybody?

No idea about these (google doesn't seem to be very forthcoming, all I get is your article plus a lot of info on population pyramids  ), but here's the website of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation. :what: Seems everybody can have a pyramid these days.

One might be tempted to say "woooooooooooooooooooo!" but since this a rational skeptisism site I must restrict myself to merely saying that "most experts don't agree on the Bosnian pyramid being a manmade structure"

Yes, I know. Except those who do. Then again, there are experts who agree that the world was created in 6 days.

There are experts who disagree with certain other experts, then there and "experts". It's not overly unjust to rank Sam Osmanagic among these latter.

You're a master of understatement, tnjrp  The man claims he will single-handedly change all of the history and all of the science. And that pyramids are how aliens communicate with us. (Oh, and apparently, his razor never goes blunt either.) /derail

Yep, the Bosnian pyramid shit is not massively relevant as I understood the Polish pyramids to be more in the nature of large megalithic tombs -- as I can't find pix I'm not even sure if they are in any significant way really pyramidical or if they are just called "pyramids" figuratively for being old, impressive stone structures. Which I find darn interesting, pyramidical or not.

Agreed, and it would be interesting to find out more. I only reacted to the silly sensationalism of calling them "pyramids" - they are mounds constructed of timber and earth. What's wrong with saying "we've found some really old and exciting megalithic tombs"?

Here is something that may be of use. The text is in Polish, but the pics are not ;) Apparently each tomb was like a long timber hall with an east-west orientation, entered from the east. The complex has been nicknamed "the Polish Valley of the Kings". Don't ask me for any details though, I don't speak Polish :(

Hey, that's a good find! :cheerdance:

Google translation errors and ambiguities aside, I know quite a bit more about these "pyramids" (apparently they aren't even assumed to have been so much pyramidical as long and trapezoidal in cross-section) now than I knew this morning.

But what do they polish these pyramids with...? :coffee:

I've got some decorative stones in my yard that could really use a clean, green moss'n'grime treatment.

For some reason anything seen as mound like with sloped sides seems to be a fucking pyramid. I don't know why, seems to me like if I was a caveman with jack shit knowledge of advanced construction or materials, building a big sloped mound resembling a hill with passages would be the exact effect I would go for.

I think by this reasoning we have a pyramid also in Ireland, up yours Egypt!

Unfair! Everybody's got a pyramid by now, except Slovenia :waah: My pride, it hurts!

Mummy, mummy, I want a pyramid too!

There there :hugs:

I pretty sure there is something there that can be called a pyramid. In the spirit of that, I think I may start calling Giant's Churches "the Finnish pyramids":

These are fun Finnish formations too:
