Nice. I can see that one as a fuzzy patch in a small scope from my back yard.

2010 March 15 - Illuminated Cloud Trails Above Greece

...it's actually a small deserted church built only last century.

Astronomy and deserted churches!

Well, there are plenty of deserted churches around Greece. You are going around hiking or something and think that there's nothing except nature around, and suddenly you see a small church cropping up. Unfortunately, all churches are exactly the same style, the same architecture, there is nothing different. If you see one church, you've seen them all, even internally. Even Aghia Sofia in Constantinople (Istanbul) is just more of the same architecture. Boring.

Anyway, not the best of pictures this one.

It was the adjective 'deserted' that caused me to  !

If only all churches were deserted... [Sigh]

:naughty: You shouldn't mention architecture to me. I'll only go and start an architecture thread. ;)

Do they have any idea what that chain of craters is? Fricking weird.

I've heard the theory that the 'stripes' on Phobos (including the string of craters) are ejecta from earlier impacts. When the moonlet hits debris, the material that's ejected from the new crater spreads out radially, but falls back to the moon, forming strings of craters. Or something like that.
