The light is obviously Tars Tarkas' lantern.

Unless it's a lens flare. How did you eliminate that particular possibility?

We can not be sure if its the lens flare.

Precisely. as I've already stated, it could be anything.

Does "anything" include the obvious Sun

Thanks for putting up those two pictures, kenny. The fact that only one of them has the feature is good reason to dismiss it as very probably an artifact of some kind, because a real light source on Mars would have to be highly directional to only show on one camera and not the other. It would have to be a laser!

... Oh, no! I've just realised that 5th_ape is now going to claim that there are Martians with lasers out there!

Yeah, may be some kind of light emitting alien creature

The problem with that is that they would have to be laser light-emitting, not just bio-luminescent!

So, 5th, your "rational" conclusion from the photographic evidence is that there are lasers on Mars, rather than that a defect occurred in one of the photos? Which do you think is the more parsimonious explanation?

So, because the laser option isn't ruled out entirely by that pair of photos, you think there's a chance that there is a laser on Mars, that happened to be pointing at one of the two stereo cameras at the time those photos were taken?
Of course, furher images would probably not have shown that little bright spot. If it had, I think we would have been informed.
Therefore, we do "know shit", and you are making shit up.

Something like a laser. Or something else we don't know about.

Therefore, we do "know shit", and you are making shit up

You made up the laser shit, and now you :stir: the shit.

I only mentioned the laser to show how rediculous the "light on Mars" interpretation is, because it would have to be as directional as a laser and happen to point at one of the stereo cameras, but not the other.

Could be some kind of trans-luminous chromophosphorous non-chaotic divergent lights emitted from the basement pub.
Probability of there being a pub in the basement is very low, but still
