With less than 15 minutes to go until the transfer to Mars insertion burn, the craft is pointing down towards the Earth! :ahrr:

5 minutes to TMI burn and the craft is slowly rotating to be pointing beyond Earth's horizon - just in time... Phew!

The Chinese rover Zhurong is due to make a landing attempt in the next few hours. De-orbit burn was due at 1800UT and landing is expected sometime around 2311UT...

A German guy is operating a radio dish in Bochum to read and stream the transmissions but there's no decode or translation of the data stream, yet. The light-travel time is currently around 17minutes 40seconds for the signal back to Earth.

Latest from the mission web page:
At 8 o'clock on May 17, Tianwen No. 1 orbiter
The fourth near-fire brake has been implemented,
Successfully entered the 8.2-hour relay communication track.
At this stage, the main job of the orbiter is
To be the "messenger" between the earth and Mars,
Carry out the "Earth Fire Biography".

At present, the Zhurong Mars rover is working as planned
Carry out surrounding environment perception and status inspection,
The systems are working normally.
Just yesterday, the communication link between the two devices has been established,
For the first time, the rover telemetry data was sent back through the orbiter.

^"mission web page" is actually a social media account for the mission. Today's entry includes:
Hello everyone, this is the Mars Rover Zhurong,
Everything is normal for me on Mars,
Thank you everyone for caring about me~
Coming to a new planet, full of curiosity and busy,
But very fulfilling, very happy,
Because the work is methodical and full of confidence~
Let me tell everyone what work I did today~

Today, complete navigational terrain camera landing site environment perception,
X-band ground communication, UHF-band inter-device relay communication,
Download landing site images and telemetry data,
The image is being processed,
You can see my photographs right away~

Where "right away" means "soon", I guess...

Mission live stream

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsVUdscKA-Y

No clue what's being said but I'll give it a while longer...

Seems to be a general CSNA talking shop. Heigh ho.

Aha! That stream is for the launch of Tianzhou 2 - the China Space Station version 2 - if I've sorted it correctly.

Launched scrubbed for the day...
