Excellent opening video, excellent resource. I spin a song in honour of everybody involved in putting it together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg1CRgUjYVo

Perhaps if I post the lyrics, with some bolding

An elaborate tale

So convincingly real

Things can seem so amazing

til you get up close

And see theyre no big deal

Like the stars in the sky

Or the one on the stage

Just a big ball of gas

And a regular guy

Fresh out of minimum wage

In a jackalope space

On a jackalope high

Im staring you down

Creepy jackalope eye

Many things in this life

Are not what they appear

Yeah I look like a hare

But if you stop and you stare

Im related to a deer

I got a jackalope face

Im a jackalope guy

And Im staring you down

Creepy jackalope eye

Is it so hard to imagine

Is it so hard to believe

Something so outrageous

Something so far fetched

Well how bout adam and eve?

I know you gotta have faith

I know the need to hope

But the truth is always in place

Its right in front of my face

The mighty jackalope

Plus the Supersuckers rock.

Er...didn't mean to derail the thread. Can somebody split the last couple of posts to somewhere more appropriate?

I'm used to the ongoing humiliation...that happens when you're me...just didn't want a simple thank you to cause a derail, so I thought we could move it elsewhere. We can keep it here though. Maybe we can even make Creepy Jackelope Eye the official anthem of this thread.

CJ: I was incredibly inspired by the second part of Sagan's "Cosmos", "One Voice In The Cosmic Fugue." It' an hour long, and is available on Hulu, and is almost guaranteed to be on youtube as well. It was beautiful.

More great evolution videos can be found here:

And here:

Unless you are a registered user, however, the second link will limit the number of items you can view

That one you need to be careful of. While it is good science, it is also religious theatre. The religious theatre part probably explains your "inspired".

As I can't edit my own posts there is nothing that can be done about this. Please don't waste your time suggesting more edits to the thread. They won't happen.

Hey CJ -

The Ev Resources sticky is a great idea. I was wondering if you could include a simple list of the evidence for macro & micro evolution with brief explanations, examples, common canards & resource links. Something like:

Bio-geography (macro)
[explanation]
[examples]
[canards & refutations]
[resourses]

Comparative Molecular Genetics (macro)

Comparative & Vestigial Physiology (macro)

Fossil Record (macro)

Variation within Species (micro)

Not sure if this covers all the major points, but I think laypeople could use a handy, compact list to recall the next time that some clown asserts that while micro-ev has been demonstrated, macro-ev is still under dispute.

Well any mod who reads this thread can do the update to the ER thread. I don't mind. The annoying thing is that I could be given the ability to edit my own posts and then I could just get on with it.
