Player Hating

It's complimentary but also deeply depressing. Human nature - delicate Ego's everywhere. I do it myself sometimes too. I called my friend after I got upset about it and kicked off/arrested etc. and he said "Everybody's a fucking dickhead; apart from a few people. Agree?

What was it you really wanted to say? It seems you were so agitated about whatever it was that you expressed yourself a little too elliptically. Do you think urban slang refers to coherent ideas that everyone can identify with?

Is this that same thread again? It is, isn't it?

ETA: When the thread gets round to the real topic again this time, I'm going to suggest you take Fallible's advice. I mean, really, seriously listen to it this time.

The wife beat me at scrabble a few weeks back, so I'm hoping for some good responses to the OP.

If you can't relate to player hating then I envy you. If ignorance is bliss I think the opposite is often true. What advice are you referring to Thommo?

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but you have addictions and every time you fall off the wagon and act out you start a new thread relating to some nonsensical belief or advice to start a conversation about yourself. Presumably aware that what you're doing isn't making you happy.

After a while those threads get around to the actual issue and people advise you to get the professional help that gives you the best chance of dealing with these issues. I've seen Fallible, who is a mental health professional I believe, write extensive explanations on the subject.

If I'm wrong and this isn't a consequence of a recent incident of falling off the wagon, then please feel free to ignore me.

hmmm well I was a bit drunk but not too bad. This thread isn't about me it's about the phenomenon of player hating. I spoke to three psychologists in person over the last two days and they all recognised it so I doubt in is in fact nonsensical.

By 'Player hating' do you mean jealousy or distain of somebody else's success? I doubt any psychologist would deny that that kind of jealousy exists.

Kind of...it can be their success, or their physical beauty, or their intelligence, or their wealth, or their accomplishments, or their talent etc or a combination....anything that threatens the hater's opinion of themselves/self-esteem.

Yes, it is a thing.
Yes, it exists.

Yup. People can feel like that. If it affects the 'hater' to such an extent it has a negative effect on their self-esteem or day-to-day life then they'd probably be best advised to seek professional advice.

Should the hated receive professional help if that facet of human nature depresses the fuck out of them? I can't think what help could be effective...and I certainly wasn't offered any recently....problems problems talk to me about it.

Well, whatever the perceived cause may be, if it's causing you distress and affecting your day to day life, then, yes, you should seek professional help.
