50 Book Challenge for 2012

#1  Postby Darkchilde » Jan 01, 2012 1:29 pm

Rules of the challenge for those not familiar with the challenge:

1. 50 books.
2. A book must be at least 50 pages long.
3. Books you started in 11 and finish in 12 count on the 12 list.
4. Re-reads count
5. If a book has two books in it it counts as two (Ex. An Orwell book with the animal farm and 1984, counts as two.)
6. No rules on what to read, besides what's listed.
7. This is for fun so enjoy yourself.

Let's start reading.

Happy New Year!!!

I think we post books as we finish them - or that's what I have been doing, anyway...

OK to retrieve some of my credibility, an hours hard reading has seen me finish:
"The Dangerous Book For Men, How to Triumph Over Perils and Pitfalls" by Rod Green, a fun book in a boys own style of handy hints for the modern man such as how to land a light aircraft, light a fire in the rain, escaping from bears etc etc.
Only 130 pages so doable in an hour or so..
Phew #1 completed.

I would rather report 'done' than ' I will do'.
You would wish to live life to the full, to the edge etc if you were in my shoes.

I don't want to be a pain in the arse here to all you nice people, but we do actually have a thread for books we're in the middle of reading called What'cha Readin'?. I take on board all that's been said about it being the reading being the important part and not the finishing, but this thread is actually about the finishing, the challenge being that we finish 50 books in a year.

Does e-books count?

I generally prefer hardcover, but one of my friends presented me with a kindle fire and since it would be too rude to refuse, I had to accept it. Thought I would read some of the light stuff on it. They are cheaper too.

I'm having a crack at this. I'm particularly going to focus on a few famous books that for some reason I didn't get around to reading :dunno:

So far:

1. Nausea - Jean-Paul Sartre
2. Treasure Island - Robert Louis Stevenson
