Why's that, Smudge?

The ones I found that I wanted to listen too just seemed very badly read.
I don't doubt there is some great stuff on there....

Yes, there is. It all depends on what you want to listen to I suppose, and whether any of the really good readers have done any of it. It's all pretty old, of course, but there are some real classics, and some really good readers. Andy Minter and Tadgh Hynes (thynes) spring to mind, and there's a very good american female whose name escapes me at the moment..... I tend to go mostly for solo readings, as you know what you are getting.

Of course, our very own JM is there too! ;)

Gee, looks like we have a challenge. I wasn't expecting such a turnout; just thought it'd be me and natselrox going back and forth.

I'm off too! I just re-read the rules, and seeing that those started last year and finished this count...

War Horse, Michael Morpurgo
Fire in the East, Harry Sidebottom

Both real books. I can sit and read properly while on holiday!

Current audio book Light in August, William Faulkner

I may not complete 30 books but I think will join. At least it will give me some motivation.
Also, this thread will help me in tracking the books I complete in 2012.

1. Sleepeasy (e-book) by T.M. Wright.

1 The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood

Currently reading River of Blue Fire by Tad Williams, Part II of the Otherland series. I loved part one, City of Golden Shadows, and so far, River of Blue Fire, is just as fun a read.
I was hoping to get my hands on the latest Murakami, IQ84 to start the new year, but the book is sold out :waah: (well I'm happy for Murakami... but ... :waah: )
Phew... for a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself.....

I finished Light in August by William Faulkner, but I've started again from the beginning because Faulkner can be so deep, and so obscure, that it's only on the second or third reading (or listening!) that you actually get all that is happening or just what he is on about.

@Beatrice, Tad Williams and Otherland sounded very familiar, and indeed google shows me that I read the original ages ago. I remember enjoying it, but I think I would have to re-read before going on to the next one. I had no idea there was a series!

Second one down;

570pgs. 13/1/12

Just a super, fast paced, funny but nasty, read.
