Beg par? Did you totally miss the dynamic between her and Jaime? His forced observation of her uncompromising commitment to doing what's right regardless of the cost to herself, repeatedly saving the life of a man she despises? An example crucial in his gradual transition to the man he has become by the end of the fourth book; a man who has at last broken the hold of his bunny-boiler sister and found his own way to live? It is one of the strengths and courtesies of Martin's writing that even the people who seemingly don't matter do matter! (See my evident alter-ego Samwell, for instance...)
Yeah, but did that really need to take up like half of the fourth book? Character development is fine, but I'd also like a little plot. Otherwise I'd just read Anne McCaffrey. She should never have been a POV character. She should have just been someone we see from Jaime's POV, since he's actually a good character. If he gets getting bogged down in minor POVs and pointless plot threads he's gonna turn into Jordan.
