A hack? Oh lordy.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

Svartalf wrote:I'd have to find them and read them then, though I once read a 4 story compilation, it did not strike me a any better than his longer work.

* Skeleton Crew
* Nightmares and Dreamscapes
* Everything's Eventual
* Bazaar of Bad Dreams

...contain some of his best work, IMO.

I think I have Skeleton Crew somewhere, the others must be too recent for me to have paid attention.

Just finished...

The Outsider

Disappointing, IMO.
A by-the-numbers monster/killer story. There's some strong character development in the first half... but even that is abandoned once Holly Gibney (from the Bill Hodges trilogy) arrives on the scene as a can-do-no-wrong 'Mary Sue'. From there on it's a downhill plod to the ho-hum ending.
I give it 4/10.
