Church votes in favour

The Church of Scotland has voted in favour of allowing people in same sex civil partnerships to be called as ministers and deacons.
The historic decision was made by the General Assembly on the Mound in Edinburgh today, where the motion was passed by 309 votes in favour and 182 against.

God speaks through a democratic assembly of followers! The faithful have voted , God has spoken.
Is there a more benign way of understanding religion?

If god has spoken through those voting, then he only managed to speak to a portion, how do we know he spoke to the majority?

I don't know how God does anything.

Religions are usually sold as the eternal unchangeable revelation of God; the war on heresy typical of many religions is founded on this belief, which admits no variation from the-one-revealed -truth.

How much could any religion change while remaining true to the revealed message? The congregation speaks for God makes this problem simple and pain free.
