Paul Crouch: The Death of a Salesman

#1  Postby DoctorE » Dec 08, 2013 7:24 pm

Paul Crouch Sr, televangelist and co-founder of the Trinity Broadcasting Network, died on November 30th, 2013. Charisma News called him "One of the Giants of Our Generation."

But did this "servant of God" deserve such a flattering eulogy?

Hang on, this individual solicited donations for a fifty million dollar private jet? Donations for his and hers mansions? Donations for a luxury motor home for the family dogs? And people were stupid enough to pony up for this?

Fucking hell, where can I find idiots willing to keep me in mansions and a private jet? Oh wait, I have integrity. Which is probably why I'm poor.

There was a song by a band called Suicidal Tendencies - Send Me your Money. It had the following great line that summed up televangelists:

"How much you give is your own choice
But to me it is the difference between a Porsche and a Rolls Royce
I want you to make it hurt when you dig into your pocket
'Cause it makes me feel so good to watch my profits rocket"
