I scowl with frustration at myself in the mirror. Damn my eye patch--it just won't behave, and damn Abigail Anderson for being ill and subjecting me to this ordeal. I should be studying the lyrics to the new batch of songs someone else wrote for me for my next tour, which starts next week, yet here I am trying to wrestle my patch into submission. I must not sleep with it wet. I must not sleep with it wet. Reciting this mantra several times, I attempt, once more, to bring it under control. I roll my good eye in exasperation and gaze at the sun-baked skin and sun-bleached hair of a girl with a handlebar moustache and beard too big for her face staring back at me, and give up. My only option is to restrain my wayward eye patch with a new strap and hope that I look semi-presentable.
