This was the first forum I ever joined, back in 2001. It's still going strong.

Might be a computer geek thing. IRC (the now ancient chat protocol) is still the standard means of quick communication for most open source projects and programming languages. I'm in several channels 24/7.
Here we go again. First, we discover recursion.

You're here posting now, so that basically answers the question. There have been various theists here in the past (not just christians iirc). I don't know why but this subforum seemed to pretty much die out over the last 5 years or so.

Back in 2010-2012 was when the creationists and ID proponents of their various stripes seemed to be the most active. In general, I see much less activity from such people these days. I don't really know why that is, though it seems in some part because the ID movement is past it's prime. Or I guess at least in part because of the rise of mediums such as facebook, twitter, youtube and the like, people argue on those instead of on discussion forums like these.

I wonder if it's because nobody is arguing about religion because people aren't really that religious anymore? How many people born in the last 30 years are religious? All the religious have no good arguments and often shoot each other. Young people have social media and get exposed to more religions meaning, I would imagine, that they're less likely to worship any because they're aware of them.

And worship is a weird word. Is anyone really "worshipping" something these days other than nutters? As in on their knees, praying like there's no tomorrow? This would be in the advanced world I'm talking about here of course.

Indeed, the position of Classical Greece as a trading crossroads in the Eastern Mediterranean, allowed its people to come into contact with numerous religions adhered to by people in the other trading nations, which immediately led the more philosophical Greeks to start asking some fundamental questions, such as "they can't all be right, so are any of them right?" :)

Which probably explains why the word 'atheism' itself is of Greek origin.
