Any theory of gravity is (just) a theory, but the phenomenon of gravity is a fact. Likewise, any theory of evolution (there is no "the theory of evolution") is (just) a theory, but the phenomenon of evolution is a fact.

There's still the point that creationist/evolution 'skeptics' confuse theory with hypothesis/guess.

His training is in the law and history and he thinks that Darwin returned from the Galapagos Islands in 1859, wrote The Origins of Species, and got it published all in that same year. He also thinks that "evolutionists" won the Scopes trial.

Pence's ideas are doltish and worthy of ridicule, but the fact has to be faced that he now has a position of some power. Whether that transfers into a shift in emphasis or some more concrete appeasement of the fundy lobby remains to be seen. Ironically, Trump has just spent 4 years lambasting the Democratic party for their 'toxic ideology', but can there be anything more toxic to the US's founding secular principle than granting power and influence to those whose an ideology which seeks to refashion the facts in accordance with the self-serving moral imperatives of a mythology and without reference to reality? Did America really just vote for "Because, that's why"?

Disgusting video. The virus that was the Tea Party has infected the major government institutions.

Was he asked to deliver a sermon or what?
Its been an avocation of his to study the origin of man and life on Earth, yet he said that Neanderthals were knuckle-draggers.
I suspect it's not been an avocation of his to study the origin of man, and life on Earth.

Except that evolutionary biology is an observational science. As the hundreds of papers documenting evolution being observed both in the lab and the biosphere eloquently testify, including documented instances of speciation.

So if Pence tries playing the Ham shell game, he's fucked amongst those of us who paid attention in class.

I've started to refer to this tosser as Tup, for two reasons: (1) where I come from in England, a tup is a male sheep with its nuts still intact; and (2) I wouldn't give tuppence for what he thinks.

I notice that the one signature so far to the petition is from the United Kingdom

Just signed:
"Uriah Wanker"

Edit.

Just checked: Uriah Wanker is listed as the second signature. Wonder how long it will stay there?

The petitions is steadily gathering signatures. This could be the beginning of the end.
