More Creationist Schools in the UK

The current government's policy of allowing any group of nutters to start a school has had the inevitable result of a rash of schools operating under the umbrella of the "Christian Schools Trust" (CST). This organisation has a creationist agenda and creationism is openly taught as part of the science curriculum as evidenced by the PhD thesis of the founder of the CST, Sylvia Baker. This is a study on the new Christian schools and chapter 7 of this thesis states repeatedly that creationism is taught as science in these so-called schools. More information is provided on the news page of the British Humanist Association Website here (you can also download a copy of Baker's thesis from this page):

http://www.humanism.org.uk/news/view/951

There is currently an e-petition against the teaching of creationism which can be accessed here:

Frankly, the fact that our government is apparently condoning this perversion of truth and science disgusts me. :nono:

Signed some while ago, but I'm going to email my MP with a raft of things, and I'll include this. Given that he's a LibDem minister, I doubt he'll do anything, but we can but hope.

Ive always been an optimist, but i will say this...Its going to get worse!

I cannot think of anything more divisive to any society, than having children brought up in their most formative years, in sectarian schools. (Even if those schools admit some who are not of their sect).

Look to Northern Ireland, it will take generations to undo the harm.

Is there no control over school standards. Here you can start a private school but it is inspected at least once a month and it has to follow the guidlines laid down by the inspection board.
Are these schools just allowed to have a free hand?
That is why all the muslim schools have been closed down here. They failed to meet the required level and coverage of subjects.

It is obvious that is Cameron's plan. Splitting society. He is going to do it the two major areas of society; health and education.

Is it four years yet to the next elections? The damage by then will be complete. I feel sorry for you England. TG I dont live there anymore.

Essentially the Tories have unleashed an assault on local government, centralising education. These Free Schools are subject to the whim of the Minister, so not so free as they might like to think, just free of any local democratic control or influence. And yes, another 3 - 4 years of this lot is going to leave us well & truly buggered.

Well this is why victory for us Creationism which have been banned by censor from fear of the truth. The Bible is disocvery of truth origins and zillions of English speaking Christians especially in the English speaking world know that are is historic. Science is dead and banning God is illegal and absurd on any accounts and thus is result of do that despite its operation. So now we see the tied is turning because the truth cannot be surprised. At the end of the day before lunch is what is devided by the people for choose what their children must be told in school. The majority is support creationism and science must be banned from school. It's just a hunch anyway with no evidence to support it. The Bible is truth, as can be see from all the evidences such as those found by real scientists. It is only desperate attempts by small people to force there hunch with no evidence to the children for conclusions in origins is just dumb. As I predicted we are in the middle or beginning or somewhere of a story of truth or idea redemption which can only be won by the good guys (us).

Creationists are not afraid of going toe to toe on the merits of issues of truth disco before and any of all audiences especially children. So we will see what happens now with this because the correct always have the grearter confidence, and so will always be out eventually.

As I see it Creationism 1, Evolutionalism 0.

Applause for rainbow please everyone.

He dropped by to try to garner an emotional response, and then immediately hit the alert button and legged it. How very fucking typical.

Because I know you all too well, so I clicked the alert button after you viewed the thread again and lo and behold 'this post has already been reported'!

What was it you were saying about 'moderation gone mad'?

Only when it doesn't suit you, eh? ;)

If you heard Cameron's recent wibbling on the importance of religion to give society direction, I think you'd agree that this is entirely futile... but signed anyway!

Well our constitution was changed removing religion from schools but we do have still a few private xtian schools run by foundations. THey are not overtly religious and have to teach evolution and cannot substitute it for creationism. The school inspectors see to that. At the present time these schools outperform the state schools. There is greater discipline.

I think I detect a hint of sarcasm here! It's not a thoughtcrime but it is most definitely NOT science and should not be taught as such. Schools should adhere to certain standards.
