Ohs noes! The term "Bible goggles" has been co-opted!

#1  Postby Shrunk » Feb 03, 2016 12:11 pm

We can't use it as an insult anymore. One Dr. Andrew Snelling tells a story about encountering some "vocal anti-creationist skeptics" at one of his sermons, and concludes his account with this inspirational message:

Thus, ultimately I know without a doubt that the global Flood cataclysm really did occur—because God’s Word says it did! Even if I couldn’t see any evidence, I would have to accept God’s Word for it! Of course, God has left us with so much stunning evidence for the Flood all around us, but it can only be seen through the “biblical glasses” we acquire when we totally accept the authority of God’s Word.

Preach it, brother!

I think these are closer to the required specifications:

"Biblical glasses" doesn't have the same annoying "clever" aspect that "Bible Goggles" would have. Both terms are logical extensions of "Beer Glasses/Goggles."

Seems rather boringly obvious. Like most of the "jokes" I've managed to think up.

Well, we can still say god-goggles, biblical goggles sounds lame anyway.

So he's effectively admitting in public, that he's proud to have his thinking warped by ideological blinkers? I would really love to know what category of moron would ever trust this person again after this admission.

I find it hard to read the phrase 'beer goggles' without remembering the classic 2DTV "Wayne Rooney and the Barmaid".
I don't do sarcasm smileys, but someone as bright as you has probably figured that out already.

"so much stunning evidence for the Flood"

I think this is telling us is you have to be rendered senseless to perceive this 'evidence'.

That's a very cockeyed observation.

I heard Ken Ham (not a Star Wars character) use the term 'biblical glasses' years ago. It was on the same, 'Were you there? How do you know?' video.
Well at least he has kids asking the right questions.
