I'm unsure why an IDer or YECer would ever be a dentist. If god wanted you to eat steak when you're 60 he'd have given you revolver-teeth like a shark. Fixing teeth goes against His Will, IMO.

He's got the machine that goes PING!

I really don't remember much of the specific details of my encounter with him on RDF, but he caught my attention when he claimed a patent on the Machine That Goes Ping, among other inventions. I'm an IBM Master Inventor, responsible for promotion and facilitation of invention and patent activity among IBM employees (sadly, the current strategy seems to be IBM hoping that invention disclosures are developed and filed for patents out of thin air, on its own behalf - that strategy doesn't seem to be working). He was posting under a full name, Steven T. Blume, a name which he also used on his own website. There were no US patents issued under that name (or any of the usual combination of initials with last name). After dodging and weaving with excuses and evasions, he was cornered into admitting that the name he was using - the same name he was promoting on his own website - was a false name. My coffin-nail comment which fried his patootie was "If you can't even be honest about your own name in your first sentence on your website, why should anyone believe anything you've got to say about any subject?" He went totally global nuts ape-shit, but he did eventually and grudgingly update his website to remove any reference to his actual name. There does seem to be a registered dentist named Steven T. Blume, but no inventor by that name had had any patents issued, and he steadfastly refused to reveal the patent number on the Machine That Goes Ping.

Although, in fairness to him, I believe after this he put his real name on his blog.

Being fairly new to the community I never encountered this individual before. I have to admit my first thoughts are primarily of pity, he seems a very sad and lonely individual... I mean he spends his spare time animating prehistoric bestiality porn. I mean this man believes his brain was a gift from god and this is how he chooses to use it, it's very sad really.

Wow, I just wasted way too much time at his blog. Even came across some of my old posts pointing out instances of his intellectual dishonesty. They were of course followed by his standard replies revealing a startlingly powerful persecution complex.

For some strange reason I felt compelled to try to discuss things with him again. I'm trying to take it slow, just one thing at a time.

I just posted this on his site

He said
You didn’t point out any errors.

My response:
Yes, I did. Let’s look at one of them…. again. You claim the only way to separate two strands of RNA is with an enzyme. I then reminded you that there is another way: heat.

If there is another way, and you claim there is not, you have made an error. I have pointed it out. Ergo, you’re wrong and that section of your article is misleading to people who know better.

Correction: People who don't know any better

I got a hundred bucks that says the response will not coherently address my objection. Any takers???

His response:

At just the right temp replicated RNA unzips? Right. I don’t think RNA invented itself, then copied itself in a location on earth the was just the right temperature so it could perfectly unzip. And if it did, who cares? It would just be biochemical junk with no use and no code. Do you think RNA can invent itself? A highly specialized biochemical with absolutely no use at the time it invented itself? Then it copied itself, then slithered into a lipid micelle, then got to a location with just the right temperature so it could unzip? Then……what then? How can you possibly believe this scenario. HOW? The error is yours for being so gullible.

This was right after I had told him that I don't think there is currently enough evidence to say for sure that abiogenesis by naturalistic means is DEFINITELY what happened. The last few sentences become particularly relevant in that light. I am really starting to remember just how insane this man really is... The sad part is that this has been the closest he has come to a reply to any argument because he implicitly acknowledged that he understood what I was saying (A big step up for him).

I was going with YOUR scenario, the “life from the depths” abiogenesis scenario in which hydrothermal vents traditionally play an important part… and why do you insist on anthropomorphizing a chemical? This is no way to begin a logical discussion.

Yep.

Still can't grasp an argument well enough to sustain it, let alone defend it against critique.

Is he still ignorant of ground breaking research into the evolutionary genetics of tooth morphogenesis that I bitchslapped him with a year ago?

I'm afraid to say yes. In fact, it is featured as #5 on his list of "Ten Impossibilities of Evolution". There's even a video called "The Evolution of Teeth: It's Impossible" I haven't gotten around to watching it yet, I'm too busy being scolded over there for adherence to dogma and other favorites from the grab-bag of stevebee canards. :puke2:

What a fucking douchebag. He posts this excrement despite the fact that I schooled him on tooth evolution nearly a year ago?

But once again, what do you expect from a creationist?

I really did try with him. But like any dogmatic fundamentalist (he may say that he is not a creationist or Faith-head, but he is just as dogmatically fixed as the 'best of 'em either way) he has simply shut his mind down to anything but his chosen/given position, and nothing can sway him. :nono:

I have given up on him as yet another lost little wingnut.

Hey, thanks for the fun read. I feel honored. I love all the people who got their tails whipped at my site and come back here telling you what great conquerors they are. What a laugh.

Oh look ... it's the "dentist" who was completely unaware of current research in his own alleged field. Remember all those papers on the underlying genetics and molecular biology of tooth morphogenesis I bitchslapped you with over at the Richard Dawkins Forums, do you? I can bitchslap you with them here if I have to.

So says the "dentist" who was unaware of ground-breaking research in his own alleged field.

Going to demonstrate that you actually understand the recent scientific research in your own alleged field when you come back?

Only if not, I'll have fun exposing your ignorance.

Who? You, now that we've been graced with your presence? Hi Steve!!!!!!!

The point is serious but the vid is a spoof.

Yes. We get that. As you told me on your site, this is your serious point:

Bio -systems needed ISP to spread from species to species, but that is not possible, OF COURSE.

What we are laughing at is how mentally deficient your serious point actually is. I've told you before, and I'll say it again: In order for us to observe different species with homologous bio-systems, we do not need "ISP". These homologies come from common ancestry... Which is why I was forced to classify this argument using one of your favorite lines: THIS IS A STRAWMAN
