Yes I did, and I still profess to know knowing either way.

Why is that? I have a question to ask and so I have asked another person in case they know more than I do. Whether I type it into google, or ask in a library, or on an internet forum under a Creationist sub forum, or even read it in a book, I am trying to find out from others the answer to a few questions.

Life is too short, Passer. Waste your time however you like. Who did you think was going to help you 'discern the truth' that depends on interpreting a text written by people long dead? You've got a literary theory there that you probably cannot name.

You already admit ignorance, so you don't know whether or not to label it as drivel. To go farther, you're going to have to figure it out for yourself.

There are probably more opinions than members at this web-sponge. Expecting 1 other opinion is foolish.

Looking at the wind in the Bible one can see that the goat roasters had some limited understanding:

Jonah 1:4 ESV / 2 helpful votes
But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up.

Matthew 14:24 ESV / 2 helpful votes
But the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.

John 6:18 ESV / 2 helpful votes
The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing.

Mark 13:27 ESV / 2 helpful votes
And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Ecclesiastes 1:6 ESV / 6 helpful votes
The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns.

Luke 12:55 ESV / 3 helpful votes
And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and it happens.

Acts 27:14 ESV / 3 helpful votes
But soon a tempestuous wind, called the northeaster, struck down from the land.
Exodus 10:13 ESV / 6 helpful votes
So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all that night. When it was morning, the east wind had brought the locusts.

Exodus 10:19 ESV / 4 helpful votes
And the Lord turned the wind into a very strong west wind, which lifted the locusts and drove them into the Red Sea.

Proverbs 25:23 ESV / 4 helpful votes
The north wind brings forth rain, and a backbiting tongue, angry looks.

Exodus 14:21 ESV / 5 helpful votes
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

From the above it is clear that they were aware that winds came from different directions, in different strengths associated with different climactic conditions - not sure where the locusts fit into all this. However, when it comes to explanations as to where the winds come from, it all falls down:

Psalm 135:7 ESV / 3 helpful votes
He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

Jeremiah 10:13 ESV / 3 helpful votes
When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

Genesis 8:1 ESV / 4 helpful votes
But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided.

My eight yr old can describe the rain cycle. It's because they teach science at her school. As a result, I never expect her to ask if the bullshit espoused in the bible either explains it as well or if that bollocks constitutes evidence that the authors of the Bible knew anything about evaporation, condensation, the effects of the lunar cycle on tides, atmospheric pressure, temperatures, relief rain etc etc.
Their efforts to explain where water goes and comes from etc is pretty much on a par with just about every other observation about the natural world around them. Evidence of a huge amount of ignorance of anything outside of their locality, a heap of assumption, insertion of made up shit to fill in the gaps, the creation of mythical beasts whilst being ignorant of very real creatures that don't live on top of them and most of all, the assumption that some intelligent and all powerful being made it all and that there is a purpose to it all.
The Bible is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies.

Passer wrote:Dinosaurs described
Job 40:15-24
15“Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. 16Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. 17He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. 18His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron.

19“He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! 20For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play. 21Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh. 22For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him. 23Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened; he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth. 24Can one take him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with a snare?

I highlight the parts that seem to refer to a huge beast, strong and powerful. It sounds like a sauropod. Clearly not a hippo, or rhino, or elephant due to the large cedar like tail, and it cannot be a crocodile because the behemoth eats grass; I’m not sure if they do that.

The Revised English Bible.
Dinosaurs NOT described
Job 40:15-24
"15 But consider the chief of beasts, the crocodile, who devours cattle as if they were grass: 16 what strength is in his loins! What power in the muscles of his belly! 17 His tail is rigid as a cedar, the sinews of his flanks are tightly knit; 18 his bones are like tubes of bronze, his limbs like iron bars.
19 He is the chief of God's works, made to be a tyrant over his fellow-creatures; 20 for he takes the cattle of the hills for his prey and in his jaws he crunches all beasts of the wild. 21 There under the thorny lotus he lies, hidden among the reeds in the swamp; 22 the lotus conceals him in its shade, the poplars of the stream surround him. 23 If the river is in spate, that does not perturb him; he sprawls at his though submerged in the torrent. 24 Can anyone blind his eyes and take him or pierce his nose with the teeth of a trap?"

Do get another Bible, Passer.

It should also be noted that Bronze and Iron are both mentioned, indicating a transition period where both were worked. See Late Bronze Age Collapse in the Ancient Near East Wiki_Bronze and Wiki_Iron.

This would appear to indicate that this text could have originated between 1200 BCE and 500 BCE (depending upon the region). A little late for dinosaurs, don't you think?

I'd never heard of the Revised English Bible before. Whilst it is an interesting translation, I don't believe it is a crocodile as I am sure they do not eat grass. They are carnivores.

Thanks all very much for your feedback, I appreciate it.

Your bible version has a misprint. Instead of grass read grans (as in grandparents). That's your free sample.

Passer. The REB does NOT say crocs eat grass. It says they eat cattle as though they were grass. It's a simile. You know, they eat cattle like cattle eat grass.

Regardless of the diet of the crocodile, why on earth would one conclude that a sauropod was being described? They became extinct around 145million years ago. The Bible describes a period around 6000 years ago to just under 2000 years ago. They clearly weren't around by then by some 145million years.
It's just silly to make the link.

saw a verse in the holy bible saying stars will fall on the earth, but hey, logically speaking, trillions of stars cant fit in this small earth.

someone was masturbating when writing these nonsensical garbage.i would have no problem if they said the stars would fall, that is a possibily but they cant fall on the tiny blue planet.
