Want to get dumber? Watch Eric Hovind

I love how he's "explaining" the Big Bang and the page from a text book he's using is talking about the formation of the solar system.

Isn't lying against his religion?

You can't prove that hydrogen can form other elements.

Hey dickhead, want to stand next to a hydrogen bomb?

Didn't think so.

I watched the whole thing... I was trying to find a point we could at least nominally agree on.

Peddling untruths. That's what it comes down to. Promoting ignorance & lies. FFS, believe in a god if you must, but stop spreading lies as if they were true. Hovind et al are deceitful, and devious promulgators of lies. Satan is the Prince of Lies, therefore Hovind et al must be Satanists.

Couldn't finish watching it, it's sickening to see someone spreading this false nonsense to a large audience on TV, contributing to a culture of anti-science, anti-knowledge, anti-reality thinking just because it contradicts his beloved ancient myths.

I couldn't make it to the end but from what I saw this is almost word for word the same bullshit his dad used to present with the exact same arguments. It is also obvious that he is also trying to copy his jailbird dad's mannerisims and "humour" that it ends up looking ridiculously false and like he is trying too hard to be an exact replica of his dad.

It's just a shame that the children of fundie parents who are presented with the Hovind's nonsense will be unaware that they are being peddled a bunch of lies and that the scientific theories that Hovind "discusses" bear no relation to the ridiculous straw men versions that Hovind brings up.

I'm just waiting for the first time someone in his audience stands up and corrects him on the etymology of "Universe"

Bet that wouldn't make the final edit ;)

I watched the whole thing, waiting for anything they said which might be correct or even not quite as wrong. I finished disappointed.

Then I had to go for a walk so the twitching would stop.

Yep, it took me two clicks to find out that "verse" as used in "universe" is derived from a Latin noun for something rotated.

And the text book that he was using for his examples is probably at least twenty years out of date.

"Evolutionists" didn't come up with big bang theory, astronomers and physicists did.

The age of the earth has been determined by geologists, and long before Darwin and Wallace it was pretty well established that the earth was at least millions if not hundreds of millions of year older than what these fuckhead creationists claim.

I find it hard to believe that people like the Hovinds that are intelligent enough to put together these packs of lies don't know that they are lying. It can't be just willful ignorance.

Are they lying for Jesus or for the money that can be made by selling books and videos containing these lies to gullible believers?

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
~1 Peter 3:15-16. They quoted my favourite Bible verse and they used it wrong. It was then that I stopped watching.

Actually I stopped watching it when he said he forgot the periodic table after taking the quiz. Makes me know his credentials are worthwhile. I have the periodic table memorized to 36 Krypton, atomic mass number, various isotopes including, why? Because I have found that in all my classes dealing with molecular biology, biomedical sciences, and microbiology, chemistry and the elements found within the first 36 elements are important. >.<

He spoke at Liberty when I was there. Liberty and Pensacola are buddy schools. I didn't have the pleasure to watch it. I went to an archaeological speaker that day instead.
