Buying an archaeopteryx fossil replica

#1  Postby Jakov » Sep 10, 2011 11:41 am

I've been thinking of buying a hydrostone fossil replica of archaeopteryx.

It seems the only place to get them is to order from the internet. I haven't been able to find any reviews or comments by anyone else who's bought them. Also I worry how well the fossil replica will survive postage and packaging, especially since they cost around $150 each.

I'll probably get a replica of the Berlin specimen because its the only one that has feathers.

Has anyone else here ever done anything like this?

My mother has a few fossil replicas - some of them are quite impressive. Realistic enough that I'd confuse them with her real fossils - well, except that I don't think she has a real archaeopteryx, that is.
