So...

This imaginary future organization TerrafOrma (the O being an image of earth, very creatively ) would be concerned with e.g.: diverting certain rivers that flood often, or present any sort of danger to settlements or regions, carving out new streams and riverbeds to take of pressure.

Maybe 'introduce' some water, through carved/dug out artificial rivers, or the old fashioned way, aqueducts, to regions in Africa and elsewhere where it might have some positive effect on the flora and fauna both.

And like that recent article with a floating water purifying swimming pool, that they plan to waste in the dirty bays in NY, they could put that to much better, if less profitable, use. If only profit and vanity to build some dream-pool of their minds, wouldn't be their top priority.
