How did this situation come to be?
The moonlanding didnt happen either?
Looks like i hit a sore spot! The question must be even more sublime than i thought.Animavore wrote:Are you looking for a philosophical answer to a biological question? Does this need to be moved to the biology sub-forum?
Otherwise state your intentions here clearly. I'm not playing any games.
Btw, it looks like you misread the topic. Its about the senses (the experiences), whereas you probably assumed it was purely about the biological sensory organs.Animavore wrote:Are you looking for a philosophical answer to a biological question? Does this need to be moved to the biology sub-forum?

So, suppose it is option A), does that mean consciousness began multiple times, once for each type of sensory experience?
So whats the answer to the OP question then?Animavore wrote:pl0bs wrote:Looks like i hit a sore spot! The question must be even more sublime than i thought.Animavore wrote:Are you looking for a philosophical answer to a biological question? Does this need to be moved to the biology sub-forum?

You haven't hit any spot. Your question is the opposite of sublime.
You need evolutionary biology 101. I can't help you here.
Here's a good place to start.

Come back when you've grasped the basics and hopefully you'll simply see for yourself why your question is nonsensical.

Lolz, i got you by the balls. First you claim my question is answered by some biology 101 book, then you cant even answer it yourself. You need to figure this out yourself. Unless you want to pay someone here to write a book for you. There are multiple layers to this. You need to understand basic evolution before you can figure out what you're trying to ask. I can't give you a one line answer.

Oh? So some biology textbook has proven consciousness to be physical?Animavore wrote:The senses are biological, chemical and physical.
Of course you havent!I haven't misread the topic
Everytime you get pwned, you learn something. Dont worry about it, it may feel bad but its actually good.Animavore wrote:pl0bs wrote:Lolz, i got you by the balls. Listen I'm trying to help you help yourself and you're throwing it back in my face. You clearly have no interest in understanding the evoluton which underpins your biology so you can fuck right off.
Consciousness = having experiences. The OP is about sensory experiences.Animavore wrote:
Where does the OP mention consciousness?
Like I said, you've ne real interest. Troll someone who cares.

So do you go for option A or B? Or if you claim the issue has already been resolved by biology, can you provide a quote?
You come here asking for teaching, but your cup is full; I can't put anything in. Before I can teach you, you'll have to empty your cup.
Yet here you are, thinking and talking about the different senses you have (btw look up synestesia). You can think about a red wine that smells good, tastes good, and feels wet to the skin. If each sensory experience was truly seperate from the other, how can we think and talk about them in the same way?Thommo wrote:
The moon landing happened. But sight, balance, smell and thermoception and all the rest aren't a "unified whole", the stimuli don't join up, they aren't perceived in the same way. Field of vision doesn't bleed into smells at the edges.
