Not sure if this has been posted here before...

I like the simplicity of this series of graphics. Am not sure how to make the zoomed in version available right away.

So the point is the number of branching points in the tree? And how, as numerous as these are, they represent only a fraction of the transitional forms that have been identified each of which can be slotted in at a spot in the overall tree?

I guess what threw me is I expected the theme of gradation in colours to be carried over to the tree, which it wasn't. Each major group is identified by a single, uniform colour.
