Let`s Talk About Evolution

#1  Postby Viraldi » Dec 02, 2011 6:38 pm

This video was produced to allow scientists to explain, in their own words, the importance of evolution to science -- and the related importance of teaching evolution in schools. Our goal is to convey the fact that evolution is an amazing, uplifting discovery that has served as the genesis of countless advances in many fields of science. We also wanted to highlight female role models in the science community.

For information on what you can do to support evolution in education, please visit these sites. These organizations are not associated with this video in any way, but we think they do great work: National Center For Science Education: http://ncse.com/ and American Association For The Advancement Of Science: http://www.aaas.org/.

We encourage people to film their own videos and contribute to the conversation. Keep it positive: focus on the importance and wonder of evolution, and not on divisive name-calling.

This video was produced by: Matt Shipman, David Wescott, Jamie Vernon, Kevin Zelnio and Andrea Kuszewski.
AE wrote:“The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this.”

If a God created the universe and all the life in the universe, why can't a God be seen as a power capable of improving life here on earth through the process of evolution? Why do religionists deny evolution? Why is evolution considered a communist, evil, or Atheist concept by religionists?

Because it means that their creation myths are wrong.

And, in the case of Christianity, it means that the story of Adam and Eve didn't happen...and that means that there was no need for the crucifixion.
Atheism alone is no more a religion than health is a disease. One may as well argue over which brand of car pedestrians drive.

Let`s Talk About Evolution

Religious literature is their problem, methinks. Did apologists 'measure' the age of the planet & attempt to explain the Bibles timeline as an answer to the growing wonderment of science, and especially the growing piles of fossilised giants and shells?

Please excuse the grammar, I'm typing on a phone late into this nightshift.

Good point Mr. Fun Guy.

Ironclad, me thinks the Jews and the Christians were so busy the last several thousand years sacking whole nations and collecting vast amounts of wealth, and wives, they didn't have time to pay attention to the detail of evolutionary evidence.

GENERAL MODNOTE
Derail about the alleged lack of evidence for evolution moved here.

Please take discussions on the validity of evolutionary theory to that new thread and do not derail this thread any further. Thanks!

All I would like to say is that nerdy science gurls are HOT.
DBD is a fun username. I do not imagine myself as a reincarnation of T.H. Huxley, and with respect, neither should you.
