There is some of it in the Burton films. I mean it is not to the level of a mastermind detective like in the animated show, but it is there, especially the second one, my favourite because Michelle Pfieffer is in it.

It's been a long time since I've seen either of the Burton ones...I don't remember any detective stuff in the first one, I could see some in Returns. What a weird, dark movie. I remember going to the theater on the day it came out, it seemed to go on and on forever. Of course that was before Peter Jackson came on the scene, now every movie goes on forever :teef:

I think because some celebrated comics have done it. I believe Frank Miller, whose work was adapted for 300 and Sin City, pitted Batman against Superman.

I'm waiting for Aliens versus Predator versus Batman versus Superman.

I'm sure they can come up with a McGuffin that levels the playing field..a villian made from Kryptonite for example. :ask:

In the comics Batman is often shown to have plans and methods for dealing with all the superheroes if he so needs. His paranoia about super powered people and their ability to turn on mortals is the driving force normally given. Who knows why they will be fighting or if they even will fight for much though. Could be just called Batman Vs Superman because they have a race to beat up some super villain.

The intention is not to face them, but to make them team with probably other super-heroes. Avengers made DC fanboys eager to have they Justice League movie.

Already halfway there (in the world of comics anyway)...

Yes, it's in the very 'Dark Knight Returns' comic that I mentioned. It's the only time I've ever seen Superman portrayed in an interesting way.

In The Dark Knight he asked the police to leave so he could examine a scene. From that he took a piece of plaster from the wall in which was a bullet hole. He then tested numerous bullets against a set of plaster board cut-outs to find the most suitable match.

That scene made no sense scientifically speaking.

Also I more meant his actual sleuth work where he trails a person to discover who they are and then waits before engaging them.

It was my biggest fault with Rises. He just went after Bane. Batman wouldn't do that unless he had all of Bane's weaknesses figured out.

The only reason in the original comics Bane beat Batman was Bane captured the detective by surprise with the Venom drug. ETA: as well as Batman was exhausted after his time recapturing all of Gotham's villains + Bane surprised Bruce at his manor.

Agree with your criticisms here. Everything I've been hearing suggests they are going to try and break new ground with a smart Batman. That is, emphasising the difference in training and experience between Superman and The Goddamn Batman.

At any rate.

I'm not actually worried about Affleck playing Batman. I'm far more worried about Zack Snyder leading the charge on this whole DC franchise. He's no Joss Whedon. I'm not even sure what he is.
