Meathead means generically handsome, beefy, dumb-as-bricks (looking) guy. To me

Who do you want? Woody Allen?

Batfleck will be as smart as the script makes him.

Someone who doesn't look like a generic meathead? Lots of room there between Affleck and Woody Allen. Tim Burton's Batman certainly isn't the be-all of the character, but at least he had an interesting vision and style rather than the tired, drab grittiness that's dime-a-dozen these days (oh look, another blue filter!). Keaton was nothing like the string of predictable square-jaws we've had since then -- he actually managed to provide a sense of contrast between Wayne and the nutjob in the suit.

Batfleck will be as smart as the script makes him.

We'll see if he can make it believable, I won't be holding my breath.

Let's not forget ben is himself a director of several critically lauded movies as well as a cowriter for good will hunting... he may not be the next michio kaku but he's no dumb meathead. Plus with chris terrio taking a stab at the script im hopeful for this movie

Doesn't mean much for his acting skills....

...and we have precedence for Affleck acting in superhero films: Daredevil. 'Nuff said.

Hey, who knows, it might be a pleasant surprise. But there's no way you can blame me for not holding my breath.

Johnny Depp would make a better Batman/Bruce Wayne than Affleck. Which is not saying much as I find Depp to also be overrated.

HONESTLY if they continue Batman in a substantial manner I want Bruce Wayne to be retired almost like a Batman Beyond story ark. Therefore I nominate Rutger Hauer to play Bruce Wayne and than some nobody teen/young adult uprising star to play Terry McGinnis.

That would hold promise for me.

*I should write the script and send it to WB. :coffee:

I had high hopes for this movie -- but, after seeing the latest version of the Batsuit, I'm not so sure anymore...

Can't agree with that. Keaton couldn't manage to provide a sense of contrast between a human and a block of wood. Worst actor ever, IMO, and that includes Kate Capshaw in Temple of Doom.

I happen to think that Bel's been far and away the best Batman, providing the darkness I remember from the comics.

Affleck's an awful choice.

I have heard they asked Tim Burton for some feedback on the suit designs and he said you need more ''Nipples.''

Meh, I'll judge him once I've seen it. Ben can act, so hopefully he will only be looking back to his time in Daredevil as an education in how not to do a superhero movie.

He's actually said that if he thought it was going to be another Daredevil, he'd picket the movie himself.

Look, the guy has the right jaw, he can act and he's clearly been picking up heavy things and putting them down again with some enthusiasm.

Everything else is up to the script and the director.

Optimistic hat: But this could be the film that reinvents him as a director and relegates his former body of work into the dim and distant past.

Realist hat: Crap.

Agreed! I think there's too much emphasis being placed on the suitability of the actor. Heck, George Clooney could've been a very good Batman back in '97. He had the right look for both Bruce Wayne and Batman, and his stint on e.r. was proof enough that he could act. It was the puerile script and godawful production design that turned Batman and Robin into celluloid dung.

I'm optimistic that Snyder and Goyer will give us some good entertainment.
