Yes, this week's was better than last week's - but I still remain very disappointed in the story lines as a whole.

I think Capaldi is doing fine, but the plots simply suck.

OMG how did I miss that?
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

OK, this latest episode was fucking brilliant.

[Reveal] Spoiler:
Key element - remove the Doctor from the picture. It's like the early days of the show, when the Doctor was exiled on Earth - remove a normal element of the show and see how things play out.

A bit of a wrap-up, as well, for the angst Clara has been facing regarding decision-making, lamentable deaths, etc.

Really, really well done.

:this:

I wanted this episode to keep going. Smart, funny and a bit of a mind f**k. It was definitely true the spirit of Doctor Who.

I love how Clara emulated the Doctor, even unconciously.

So much awesome in that episode.

Did anyone else think the TARDIS in siege mode looked suspiciously like the Hellraiser puzzle box?

I just watched the two latest episodes one after the other. I'm delighted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed both - they were the best in a long while.

i liked a lot of it and there was a dark undercurrent that appealed to me but several things about it let it down, i thought...especially the very end, that was very rtd - but then the ones before the ending are often lighter episodes

the finale double bill looks fab, though

Hated the episode about the trees, loved the first part of the finale.

[Reveal] Spoiler:
The trees one just annoyed me with the way it utterly ignored basic things like fire behavior and the ability (or lack thereof) to remove oxygen from a small, uncontained space. The final bit about oh, don't worry, you'll forget all about it - cheap cop-out (though I did quite enjoy the Doctor's like that if humans didn't forget, they would stop having wars - and babies.

The finale, though was great. I didn't notice the cyberman eyes pattern until the double doors. Despite all the trailers (assholes) showing cybermen, I didn't twig to cybersuits in the water until the double doors appeared - then it all became clear. Love the idea of a now-female Master putting the lip lock on the Doctor whilst pretending to be a robot. The Doctor is going to have to scrub his brain with bleach to get rid of that memory.

This was set up from the last episode with the Master, if you remember. The woman grabbing the ring out of the ashes.
This episode also explains why Missy said she liked the accent and would keep it.
Ihave to admit, when Missy said she was abandoned by the Doctor I was expecting a different reveal. Susan maybe, for example.
