Depends on whether Varys sees Baelish as a threat I think.

Baelish has now become my least favourite character. I actually don't hate Cersei. I respect her for a game well-played.

Also, it's good to get solid confirmation that Dany and co are setting up in Dragonstone. If the Red Woman wandered back there, it puts her in their path.

I'm not going to be watching, and am announcing this for some reason, presumably as a form of protest against further adaptation of this story.

Here's the music track from the trailer.

Seems to draw on this, and maybe some of Daenerys's other music in the show:

Cersei's revenge at the end of 6 is what makes it amazing in my opinion. The Hound returning is also a major plus.

Like, don't get me wrong Cersei is a class-A bitch, but she is still one of the most enjoyable characters. Joffrey and Ramsey were assholes and cruel. Cersei is cruel, but in a classier way. I mean my favourite scene of hers is:

At the time, I was quite pissed about the outcome of the Sept of Baelor opening piece in that final episode, but in retrospect I quite liked how they handled Margaery's death. Do I still have to spoiler this or is everyone pretty much caught up? In the abstract, blowing (or burning) up a beloved character along with a host of others seems like a pretty undignified move against them. But they really did it quite respectably.

Cersei has always been one of the best characters - nobody needs to think she's admirable to admit that. She is no one-note sadist like Ramsay, but someone far more interesting and entertaining to watch. I've even warmed to her a lot more as she's shown she learns from mistakes. After the familiar story in which someone imagines they'll be able to use fanatics and theocrats, predictably ending up under a jackboot or at least a sandal, Cersei understood her error, learned and adapted quickly. When thwarted by the trial by combat being abolished, she changed course again and experimented with an... um... aggressive form of secularism. I defy anyone to say that her revenge/power grab sequence in S06E10 wasn't entertaining to watch, no matter how villainous Cersei may be. I've mentioned the charisma she's been projecting in her triumph, so I won't repeat all that again.

With developments as they are, enemies closing in from all sides, it's doubtful whether Cersei's going to survive until the 8th series. So, after Roose Bolton, another of GoT's best villains will go by the wayside. The plot probably demands it. We've only got 13 episodes to go.

willhud9 wrote:Nope. Cersei wins. Undead mountain kills Drogon with one sweep of his sword and then proceeds to rape Dany before smashing her head Red Viper style.

Due to Dany's death the assault of Kings landing ends and leaves cersei queen of westeros. The white walkers attack. Everyone dies, but cersei gets turned into an ice queen. Then westeros experiences an endless winter that only 2 sons of Adam and 2 daughters of eve can break and there's this Jesus-lion and a table and something about sacrifice. Totally calling it.

Nah, the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe already has a back-story, and it's not GoT.

So, what's the deal with this reduced number of episodes? My first thought was that at the tail end of things they're gonna need bigger budgets to cover what's sure to be a pretty battle-heavy ending. Seems like if they could negotiate for a similar or better budget per season but fewer episodes, then that would free them up a bit to finish things off properly. But what's the deal?
