Same, Captain Tripps. I have high hopes, if we're still someplace I can stream CBS when it comes out in December I'll pony up the $5.99 a month.

'Nother Korean procedural. 2 seasons, subtitles...good reviews. Intriguing lead.

Season 1 of The Boys was decent, season 2 drops the ball at some points: An ISIS Supervillain who's power is, surprise surprise, blowing himself up, how subtle. A new Seven member who's a white supremacist, called, I kid you not, Stormfront. :/ Characters who last season wouldn't take being disrespected/talked back to, like Homelander, now accepting those things for no clearly defined reason.

I know, but just because as aspect of a show is equally as silly in the original material, doesn't make it any less silly.

There are several great series on NHK... I'm reminded by my neglected DVR just how great one of them is: Document 72 Hours. A camera crew sets up in one small area, and interviews random passersby over a 72-hour period. Individual elements - the interviewees, the questions, the locations - are, for the most part, ordinary. But their candor is completely disarming; and the focused glimpse we get into their lives is something of a miracle. It never fails to amaze me.
I guess there are various ways to interface with the channel, depending on location. The NHK app used to stream all their shows on-demand for free, but they recently disabled that where I am. (Try the link above.) I couldn't find full episodes on youtube...
This isn't in the series - it's a standalone documentary called The Phone of the Wind, about a phone booth that was installed in the small town of Otsuchi, to help mourners grieve for loved ones killed in the 2011 earthquake & tsunami. You can expect the same kind of gentle intimacy between the crew & the subjects in Document 72 Hours, except many more subjects, and never entirely as devastating as this.
We've continued watching the new Ducktales. Really good, the animation and backgrounds are fantastic. I like the character designs a lot except for the trendy square fingers, you'd think considering they're birds you could have that front line sweep a bit like a feather More character development than the original show, as you'd expect. Lots of inside and self-referential humor for the grownups. Can be surprisingly intense for a kid's show, especially at the end of season 1. Highly recommended if you don't fancy yourself too cool for this sort of thing.

and in contrast ....wow ..dark...mixed reviews ...
Better than the reviews indicate IMNSHO and very very topical.

We’ve been watching Des, an actually well done ITV drama over 3 nights, telling the real story of the serial killer Dennis Nilsen. David Tennant is absolutely mesmerising in the title role, and Danny Mayes and Jason Watkins also turning in great performances.
Also The Third Day on Sky Atlantic with Jude Law, Naomi Harris, Paddy Considine and Emily Watson (Chernobyl). There is the intriguing addendum of a live episode between parts one and two which adds interest - will be very interesting to see how this plays out.
