Episode 4 of Deadly Class is in part a clear homage to Breakfast club.

Seriously, fuck Syfy for cancelling Deadly Class.

Image The Last Dance (Netflix)

One episode so far (of 10). I was leery bc Michael Jordan is notoriously an asshole & spending several hours with him didn't seem like a fun time. But the docu is interested in the trajectory of the team, so there's plenty to focus on without being glued to MJ (though, obviously, he takes up more screen time than anyone else). The look and sound of it is absorbing. Definitely the stuff of a 2-hour documentary I'd probably watch in one sitting. Especially since this Bulls team was one of maybe only 2 times I was ever interested in the NBA. But ten 50-minute episodes? The first episode sets things up well, and if they'd shaved off some of the franchise drama, it's easy to see how the premise (the Bulls' 6th and final championship attempt under Phil Jackson in 1997-98) could've been satisfied in standard time. I don't think I can trudge through all that filler. :nono: But someone more fascinated with the subject should check it out.

Veep is great. I think the tone shift halfway through kind of killed it for me. She’s perfect in her title role, let’s just say.

Yeah, the first couple seasons of Veep were terrific. By the end I was ready for it to be over. The Thick of It was better overall but I think bits and pieces of Veep were better than The Thick of It.

I don’t think so? I mean maybe she does- but there’s a different kind of shift... I want to say it starts with season 4? But I’m not sure. I did stop watching a couple eps into that shift. The writing for the character changes tone & it’s not a good fit... but it probably didn’t last. I just lost interest, so I never found out. (Nor about the other thing!) :P

ETA: sry about any sense of spoilers- I must’ve been tired/distracted. But idk if she ever became president (I’ve even forgotten clues from articles & trailers etc) so there’s that. :P

Was going to post a reaction to Alex Kamal's relationship issues... it's that annoying trope you see in every show ever made, where the dude gets numb in the brain & numb on the tongue whenever the opportunity to express himself arises. But the show always surprises me, by not extending the trope, instead showing Kamal making unexpected inroads in his relationship with his son... just kind of, in progress, with no lazy setup. So I believe him again. Yeah, he doesn't have all the answers, but he knows what's important to him. I do still want to slap him around sometimes, but I also don't feel like I fully know what he's about. Thoughtful characterization is definitely a strength of this show.

It seems a bit (to) slow for my taste. Characters haven't done/moved much ahead in those three episodes.

Season 2 of His Dark Materials is excellent. Love the scenery at Cittagazze, reminds me strongly of the puzzle game Reah.

Yep, a lot of setups. Might indicate a lot of action in the next few.

 quite the action for the first 20 mins so far in ep 5...

ETA: ah... the fight sequence during the getaway was pretty bad. So much immersion-breaking. Also, it seems the most interesting surviving character is dead now. Poop.
