One of the things that annoys me is the various unspoken rules I presume they must have for the tasks.

On the first task they had a sub-team unable to pay for something because they had forgotten to split the cash they were given between the two teams and so they had to waste several hours driving back across London to get it. Presumably then they are not allowed to use their own bank cards to pay for things, or get cash as it's needed and sort it out with receipts at the end. Ok, it was silly to forget the cash if that is the case, but in a normal situation you wouldn't need to remember to carry extra cash all the way across London, because you'd have your card with you. Either that or they really are morons.

I also get the feeling that they are not allowed to use smart phones or look things up on the internet or anywhere else. There seem to be many situations where my first thought would be "if you don't know, google it", but they never do even for really basic things like checking the actual definition of their team name. Either that or they really are morons.

And in most of the tasks the time limits are specifically so short and appointments arranged in such a way that it's impossible to do a good job. I assume with the design task they weren't permitted to talk to the prototype developers about what was actually feasible for overnight production until after they had come up with a design, just so it would inevitably go wrong and force a hurried re-design. Either that or they really are morons.

Hmm... "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity". :ask:

There is only one good thing about that programme and that is the music

It is deliberately designed to pit ego against ego which is why it is so watched

Personally I would put all reality television on radio just to make viewers think more

We never had none of this nonsense back in the day when there were only three channels

Is Nick Hewer still in it? My OH used to work with him and I've had supper with him as a result: he seemed a nice-enough bloke in those days.*

As for the make-up thing, there's at least one very well-known UK company that insisted on its female management staff wearing make-up, and may still do so for all I know (my chum who worked for them has retired).

*Nick H, not my OH, although... no.

They are not vying for the "ethics manager" Job. They seem to be competing for a job, whose owner of the company, knows no ethics.

It could all be fake. ;)

Take two groups of alpha males and females and then put them up against each other

Then get the losing group to publicly rat on who they think is the weak link in their group

Using this process whittle it down to just one who then gets to work for Lord Alpha himself

Make it so that those participating do not actually realise that the programme is just for ratings

Make sure that any successful but reasonable applicants are rejected because of their unsuitability

And keep on making new series every year to satisfy the relentless shadenfreude of all those watching
