Yeah, I definitely scrambled the trailer for the Foundation series with this. Nvm. Watching now.

On the negative side... None of the dialogue seemed interesting. Chalamet seems bored; it sure looks like Bardem will be wasted; and Momoa is a bit cringey. Direction looks more full of itself than interesting. :dunno: Low expectations. At least there’s Foundation to look forward to. :awesome:

Jodorowski wanted Floyd to score his version so it's probably a nod to that

Linking to movie criticism thread for decent documentary there.

The Texan bois weigh in...

Personally I don't think this landing effect looks good. It always looks like someone being lowered on a wire. I wonder why movies don't even try to address this.

I liked pretty much every part of the trailer, except the main character's look. To pristine boy-bandish imo.

I liked David Lynch's version and thought the casting was brilliant. Kyle Maclachlan was perfect as a young nobleman..

Image....
I thought the scene in the bedroom with the killer drones was perfect...

I'm okay with this one but agree the lead is not quite correct.
The whole story may be told this time with some close adherence to the book. Can't wait.

Have you seen the mini-series? If not, it's free on YT.

I think the casting through and through is genius. Especially Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, two names possibly guaranteed to draw younger audiences, and introduce a new generation to this.

That said the trailer is probably a little deceptive. A lot of MCU/DCEU people in there and some action scenes. Some people may expect something like Star Wars rather than a somewhat political sci-fi drama. But I'm sure that's the point.

Kyle Maclachlan was way too old for the role. And the '84 Dune, while visually amazing, is a pile of wank.

I’ve no doubt that if boy bands were as much of a thing in Kyle’s day he would be just as prone to those comments. And I love him.

I've no doubt there'll be young women seeing this because of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. They've nailed wide appeal on this one I think.

The FX work on this new one looks very 'video gamey' to me. The sandworms in the 1984 movie look way better, IMO.

Also... music by Toto? WTF? :awesome:

The Dune trailer in iMax is mesmerising....almost worth the price od admission alone.
