English horror/comedy (supposedly) movie from last year which stars a big chunk of the Skins cast.
It's mostly clichés and annoying teens galore. Watchable, but not particularly good, or funny.

Pretty good vampire movie. The premise is very interesting.

I fucking loved that movie!
One of the best movies I had seen in months, and one of the best vampire movies I'd EVER seen.

Is it really good? :ask:

The vampire thing got me interested a while back but I haven't downloaded it yet.

I wasn't impressed by it and liked it as much as the Twilight movies (which means not at all)

I finally finished watching the entire series of..

Loved it. But I think I like Planet Earth more.

Oh, I think that's the same doc series I've watched on someone's YouTube channel but it was taken down for some violation. I've watched the first few eps only. I think that's where I got my Jesus being a pygmy gecko theory, while watching the little critter stay on top of the water. general-chat/jesus-did-walk-on-water-he-was-a-pygmy-gecko-crack-post-t3249.html LOL

Just for those who didn't notice...that is not me on the picture. My fingers are a lot less long and I don't run on water.

The Fugitive Kind, a Sidney Lumet film based on the Tennessee Williams play Orpheus Descending. A little confusing at times, but there's some really great scenes between Marlon Brando and Anna Magnani.

6/10

Man On Wire. Saw it at the flicks, loved it, now watched it again on DVD, loved it again. Thrilling, hilarious and life-affirming documentary.

You have to admit; it's fun to make fun of.

Not fun enough to watch :nono:
Unlike B horror films, Twilight takes itself entirely too seriously.

Which I think makes it funnier. I sit there laughing, thinking of how ridiculous it is that little girls sometimes cry over this.

I agree. I can't really make fun of a movie if it's never intended to be anything other than ridiculous. I haven't seen Twilight though, if only because I have too much pride to be seen renting that DVD, despite the fact that it only costs $1 here. I have seen Eragon about three times, however. One of the most unintentionally hilarious movies I've seen in a while. I have no idea why they thought this was something that would compare with Lord of the Rings.

It was good. One of the best movies of 2009, after District 9.

Thanks for the spooky recommendations on the other thread... Here's my mini-review of the two I've seen so far.

Image

Great atmosphere, wonderful sets and some great actors, but the story was trite and somewhat meandering, with some mildly creepy moments. The house itself was the real star - fantastically foreboding sets and locations, helped immensely by being shot in super-creepy B&W!

I liked this one a lot (although I had to fast-forward through the notorious sex scene - yawn!). The story seems to be composed of mostly loose ends, but somehow satisfying since I was left trying to piece together what actually happened long after it finished. Dashes of black comedy, great atmospheric location (the canals of Venice), and a denouement that comes completely out of left field. I loved it!

Are there different versions of Gattaca available? I had in mind, that Irene (Uma Thurman) was pregnant at the end of the movie, but she wasn't this time.

I watched Surveillance and Daybreakers last night. I thought both were pretty bad, although Daybreakers had a great start. It kind of felt as though they'd developed the beginning of the film quite well, only to decide part-way through to just make a B action movie. I have no problem with B movies that are openly B movies, but I can't stand it when films with great potential regress into pointless gorefests.

Surveillance had a couple of OK scenes, but that's about it. I nearly turned it off about 3/4 of the way through because it felt like a waste of time.
