Keep in mind, e-cigs will reduce your chances for getting cancer and emphysema, but you risk to heart disease will remain. I've quit altogether and although I did miss them for some time, it has diminished. 2.5 years now :)

I've fell off the wagon a little bit recently. I'm finding that the ecigs aren't delivering the 'goods' at times. I have a hunch that it maybe the batteries - they've taken a bit of a pummeling since November. I'll be ordering some more refills next week (on payday!!) and I'm going to add some new batteries to the order.

As for breathing, it's great! I've managed to recover to the point that i can run my legs off! (might transfer to a bke!).

I'm afraid they did not take away my craving for a real cigarette. At the moment the box is stowed away in a cupboard. After reading the posts here, I think I'll have to try them again. I'd like to ask you what symptoms you had when/if you tried to give up with no help. I can last only a few hours and then I come over all weepy and sit and cry till I have one again. Is this a common thing? Of course, you men will not likely admit to blubbering anyway.

Hmmm.. perhaps you haven't got the high strength refills?

I tried an ecig about two months ago just to see what all the fuss was about, and compared to the real thing it's quite lame really. I thought it might be a good idea to get into them so that I could smoke in my local but as it turns out not many pub owners are willing to let people use them, which is a major bummer, although it's not a problem as I've been able to smoke the real ones in a couple of pubs since then (it's all very hush hush of course but it's a great atmosphere). But I can't understand the paranoia about a harmless ecig. Soon they'll ban laughter. It's sad the way things are going.

I think really need to do a little shopping around for a higher quality brand that you actually like the flavour of. They don't really taste like my old brand of tobacco but I'm so used to them that I can't think of anything worse than the taste of an actual cigarette. I'm back to that 12 year old stage in which I'll probably feel/be sick afterwards :puke:

Did you check out Concordance's video? The point is that nicotine is still harmful in and of itself. E-cigs deliver a dose of nicotine which is different to tobacco smoke so we aren't entirely sure what kind of effect this could have. On balance they are still much safer than tobacco though. Concordance's biggest worry is the marketing of a supposedly risk free product to a new generation of smokers.

I appreciate that but there's nothing like smoking a proper cigarette. An ecig doesn't feel the same to hold, it doesn't run out (it doesn't have a beginning, middle and an end), it doesn't have real fire at the end, and the smoke isn't real. The other problem is that although it's legal to smoke them anywhere, in reality you can't because a pub landlord is unlikely to let you because of all the paranoia (thanks to the likes of ASH) about smoking even though an ecig isn't even a real cigarette. I can just imagine lighting up and then some antismoker starts doing the old fake cough and the patronising hand wafting. The best thing to do is to find out where smoking is allowed and go there, which is what I've done.

I should also add that I'm more of a social smoker myself and that to me it's not about getting a "hit", it's about the ritual and the aesthetics, and the social aspect. I would find consuming a product that was designed purely for the intake of a substance rather dull, although as with so many things I'm sure there are those who are prone to becoming addicted. But speaking for myself, it's just a pleasant thing to do, not a compulsion, so if I'm going to do it I may aswell enjoy it properly and do it properly.

I bought an Electronic Cigarette today, the only problem I have in using the thing is I cannot now get an erection. Is it the lack of tobacco or old age. What do you guys think.

My first go at ecigs, I bought a cheap in-store battery with a few cartridges. It was ok, but not that much vapour. After about a month the battery wouldn't charge.
I did some research, and finally decided to go with v2 brand.
I'm tobacco free for about a week now. The amount of vapour and flavour are pretty satisfying, of course not exactly like the real thing, but good enough for me not too get cravings.
I got five cards to give to friends who want to try out v2 cigs.
They gave me a code that I'm supposed to write in the back of the card.
This will give the recipient a 15% discount, and I will get $15 credit per card used.
So if anyone here is interested in trying out v2 cigs, me a pm, and I'll send you the code.

I'm thinking a couple things. You've only had the fucking thing for a day. Seems like a short amount of time to make such a correlation. But also, they deliver the same active ingredient as tobacco, minus a shitload of toxic crap. I'd think there should be some sort of circulatory improvement, and quickly...

Hmmm...just read the thread in it's entirety. I smoked for 27 years at least a pack a day but most often a pack and a half. When I turned 40, I decided to quit. I put out my last cig almost 7 years ago. My wife just switched to e cigs a few weeks ago. She is doing ok with them. They seem to be a healthier way to smoke for people that just can't seem to quit. Good luck to all.

That's what my wife said.

I have just bought a Electronic Cigarette today and hopefully it will get me off the dreaded weed. Not had a cig for 4 hours and that's a first. Best of luck to all you guys who are trying to give up smoking,

I've discovered how to open up my E-lites tips to refill them. At around £4 each, the tips (fancy ones with their own atomiser) are very expensive and I have a decent collection. Now that I'm using them with refills from a £12 bottle of e-liquid from iCig I've essentially made my e-ciarette smoking cost less than a roll up to refill! :smoke:

Can anyone recommend me a favourite e-liquid brand in the UK? I'd like to experiment.

I could have recommended you a brand in the 60s but if I did it now I would be arrested. :smoke:

Have a look at http://www.miragecigarettes.co.uk
They have a sample pack of 28 flavours, 2.5 ml each, for £16.95. There's only one strength though. (1.8%/18mg)

Thanks for the tip but fruit mix? Lambert and Butler? Cola? Cappucino? Spearmint? Vanilla?

I'm just looking for a nice tobacco flavor really.

Grind up a Little Blue Pill tm and dissolve it in water. Put a few drops in the e-cig thingy and PRESTO, a fucking baby's arm holding a plum. Fact.
