Glad to hear you're okay, mitts.

A timely reminder that life begins today.

Mitts, the fact that you had a heart attack is not good news, but that you're on the mend; you put your confidence in the science, technology, and trained people there to help you; and you have a renewed appreciation for family and all the good things in life are all good news indeed.

I'm happy you came through this. Get well soon.

True enough, but you have a lower centre of gravity, which is much better for... stuff. :)

Not in my doctor's opinion! :) :) He is most concerned about my compact , but very spherical form! [Hence my new exercise regime of power-walking for at least an hour which includes a backpack heavy with obsolete textbooks!] :( :) :) :)

[I still eat like a pig though, as you know, food and "walkies" are one of the few pleasures left to an old dog!] ;)

Hi all,

Thanks so much for all the kind thoughts. I am following doctors orders and doing nothing! My partner is the real angel with her tireless support, I don't know what I'd do without her!

Campermon, as for out of the blue, yes it was. I had had some fluttery type feelings in my chest a few days before, not much else to speak of. I'm not particularly unhealthy, I don't smoke (gave up three years ago) don't drink much, weigh less than eleven stones but eat far too much salt and saturated fat, which has already changed!

AlohaChris, I had a myocardial infarction: anterior lateral which was treated with an angioplasty with drug eluting stent, which I think means a small metal tube inserted into a blocked artery to keep it open. If that hadn't have worked it would have had to have been open heart surgery with small chance of survival. Thankfully it didn't come to that. As for thoughts of religion and god, it did not enter my mind at all, even with the enormity of the situation. My only concern was my family. My faith in science and medicine was absolute. My mum did bring a nun to visit me in hospital (normal people bring grapes...) I was polite and it was nice that she was concerned about me but I did tell my mum when she'd gone that I wanted no more priests, nuns or holy communion (which I turned down) while I was in hospital and it felt perfectly ok to do so.

I do feel a bit useless at the moment but I know that a few months rest will see me better than I was before and good for the next sixty years! (at the very least ).

39 is quite young to be dealing with a heart attack. Glad you get a second chance after the warning.
I wish you all the best!

Come on. Talk about a bright side! Fancy being able to open conversations at parties with that!
