Sometimes I can get some really cheap ounces of cannabis at the shops. $50/ounce was the cheapest I’ve found. The good stuff tends to go for about $10 a gram, around six times more costly.

When I vaporize a load of the good stuff, I can feel where that money went. Yesterday afternoon, I was having some of the cheap stuff, and my wife walked past. The_Metatrix commented that the cheap stuff smelled like dog farts.

The dogs were there, too. It could have been them.

Not by anything remotely close as introducing non-native insects. A pot garden takes up a few square yards, and won't escape to grow wildly. Ladybugs have wings and reproduce. Have you heard of the Asian multi-colored lady beetle out-competing native ladybugs, for instance?

I topped/cut about 1/4 inch above the third node, and will use Low Stress Training to make the four remaining branches grow horizontal.

LST is using restraints to bend and train supple branches. Super cropping is just bending branch until it makes a crack sound.

A three week old freak Narkush auto flower that started budding at 2 week from seed. So, I just snapped it over, super cropping ,and the seven tiny colas may amount to something growing all at the same distance from the light.

Nearly 90% of the active cannabis ingredients are destroyed by the digestive process before they get into the blood stream when ingested. You're pretty much wasting your money unless you inhale smoke or vapor.

Glycocholate and sesame oil improved the bioavailability of oral THC; however, there was considerable variability in peak concentrations and rates of absorption, even when the drug was administered in the same vehicle. Oral THC bioavailability was reported to be 10−20% by Wall et al. [27]. Participants were dosed with either 15 mg (women) or 20 mg (men) of THC dissolved in sesame oil and contained in gelatin capsules. THC Plasma concentrations peaked ca. 4−6 h after ingestion of 15−20 mg of THC in sesame oil. A percentage of the THC was radiolabeled; however, investigators were unable to differentiate labeled THC from its labeled metabolites. Thus, THC concentrations were overestimated.

Possibly a more accurate assessment of oral bioavailability of THC in plasma samples was reported by Ohlsson et al., based on GC/MS experiments [5]. The peak THC concentrations ranged from 4.4 to 11 ng/ml, occurring 1−5 h following ingestion of 20 mg of THC in a chocolate cookie; the oral bioavailability was estimated to be 6%. Slow rates of absorption and low THC concentrations occur after oral administration of THC or cannabis. Several factors may account for the low oral bioavailability of 4−20% (as compared to intravenous drug administration), including variable absorption, degradation of drug in the stomach, and significant first-pass metabolism to active 11-OH-THC and inactive metabolites in the liver.

Add to that that CBD has even less bioavailibility than THC and what you come up with with edibles is a big waste of money.

Four days after cracking over/super-cropping my freak Narkush autoflower.

The knuckle at the crack is beginning to bark over and as the healing is completed I expect it/hope for this tiny plant to stretch some and produce nine good hash quality buds. If it hadn't starter budding so soon I was aiming at 18 colas and at least two clones, but oh well.

I've got one other Narkush that is a bit stunted but went into flower too soon also. Maybe I'll let that be pollinated by one of my male FLO and end up with an autoflowering kief plant that can be harvested multiple times?

Then it's happy seeds for everyone. Image

That's nice, they just legalized recreational in Nevada so if I want I can drive just 45 miles and spend three to four hundred dollars per once for factory grown dirt weed. No thanks.

Cannabis won't be legal until it is as legal to grow in your backyard as tomatoes.

With States buying in at 20 to 25% tax on cannabis gross sales from dispensaries does anyone think that legally growing your own without restrictions is something that is going to happen anytime soon.

Utah is finally semi-seriously considering legalizing cannabis in one form or another, but not because of the medical benefits that are now well established. No it's because Utah legislators heard about the exorbitant amount of tax money that Nevada is extorting from users, medicinal and recreational.

Just curious Piper, did that help clear anything up for you? If you want the full medicinal effects of cannabis you have to vape it, smoke, or shoot it. That's it.

I'd like to add that knowing your threshold for ingested cannabis is impossible until you go past it because unlike vaped or smoked cannabis ingested takes an hour or so to kick in. And if you've pushed it a bit too far it's possible that you're in for 4 or 5 hours of a hellish paranoid infused experience.

So, in my experience, and opinion, with edibles you're just wasting your money or flirting with disaster.

I read some of it, but it's too specialized for me to really understand. I did notice in one section that the bioavailability for inhaled was 2%-56&, whereas for ingested was 4%-20%.
But me, like many other medicinal patients, if I can't eat it, I shouldn't use it. I have respiratory problems, and smoking pot no doubt exacerbated them.
Each person will have different bioavailabilities. And it's different at different times and under different conditions. The biggest drawback to edibles is controlling the dose, that's not readily easy like smoking is.
I get stoned every day from eating it, and some of these highs are much more intense than when I smoked enough every day to tranquilize an elephant...seal.
It also lasts longer, both the high and the supply.
The side effects that are the medicinal benefits are much more noticeable from eating it. Unfortunately I'd probably be about 20 pounds lighter if I still smoked it. I never used to get the munchies, but from eating it I do.

You can grow up to 6 plants here. I just don't have the space or the proper thumb hue to do it. I also have a renter who is a recovering addict. I would prefer not to deal with that. I do have a friend who gets quality bud though. The quality from the medical dispensaries is also very good here. We have Humboldt County to thank for it :smoke:
