BBC
Dame June Whitfield, star of Absolutely Fabulous, dies aged 93

Dame June Whitfield - celebrated for her comic roles in BBC sitcom Terry and June and cult favourite Absolutely Fabulous - has died aged 93.

The London-born actress was a regular fixture on TV and radio for six decades, starring in Carry On films, Hancock's Half Hour, and even Friends.

I remember her on the radio in "Take it From Here" with Dick Bentley and Jimmy Edwards in the 50/60s.

I only just found out that Fenella Fielding died back in September 2018. She was 90.

I loved June, even in her most recent Ab Fab stuff she was as sharp as ever.

There were four more Dames of the Theatre on TV last night.

Nothing Like a Dame review – Judi Dench and Maggie Smith trade brutal banter

No spring chickens either.

Anyone who lives in the North West and watches local TV will know Dianne Oxberry. This is very bizarre. She was walking miles for charity in November, walking around and doing her job looking the picture of health until mid-December, dead from cancer by early January. Colleagues had no idea she was ill.

She saw and named storms
With calm and hazel eyes
I shalln't think her as 'passed away'
I'll think of her as sun rise

Maybe a tad too slapstick-ish for some, and a maybe bit stereotypical (Fuji), but I loved Super Dave.
