Alexander Imich
(February 4, 1903 – June 8, 2014)
Polish-born chemist, parapsychologist, and supercentenarian, who was the president of the Anomalous Phenomena Research Center in New York City. He was born in 1903 Częstochowa, Poland (then a part of Russian Empire). He earned a PhD in zoology at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków in 1929, but as he could not find an academic position in zoology, he switched to chemistry. In 1952, Imich and his wife Wela moved to the United States, first to Pennsylvania and then to New York. He started the Anomalous Phenomena Research Center in 1999, trying to find a way to produce "The Crucial Demonstration", the goal of which is to demonstrate the reality of paranormal phenomena to mainstream scientists and the general public.

A few months ago I was listening to Ade Edmundson on "My Planet Rocks." Seems like he and Rik have barely spoken in recent years because Ade didn't want to continue doing the series "Bottom." I'm now oddly mournful at the thought they might not have spoken before Rik died. :(

The wrong Tory bastard. I mean, with so many to choose from, why did fate pick on Rik?

One of my favourite comedians ever. I have everything he's ever done. Can't quite believe he's died. 56! I wonder if it's a long-term injury relating to his quad-bike accident years ago...

I had just started a long car journey when this came on the news.
Very sad. Saw him at the National Theatre once, in The Government Inspector

I told my kids this afternoon and they were, who?

Mentioned Blackadder cos thanks to Dave they've seen that but not a big enough part really.
