Noooooooo!!!!

Neil was among the most important influences in my life as a musician. Bowie cut deep, but Neil cuts closer to the heart.

Utterly fucking devastated.

2112 was one of the first albums I ever bought. I still remember reverently removing the cellophane wrapper.

That shocked me. Wasn’t expecting that.

Hack, did you read his autobiography he put out a few years ago?

I did. Saw them many times over the years too. Thought it was all over when his wife and dsughter died in quick succession, but still managed to see them twice after reformation.

He was a genius. One of the great lyricists of our time, and among the greatest drummers of any time.

Running a Rush playlist on Spotify as we speak.

Got to have this. Saw them on this tour at the ManchesterArena:

it might surprise a few of you to know that Rush were the first band I ever saw play live in my mid-teens, so NP's death is certainly noteworthy and sad for me.

For some reason I've never listened to Rush despite hearing about them years ago. I'm listening to a playlist on Spotify on the bus into work and wondering why not. They sound like the precursors to loads of the prog stuff I listen to these days.

Aart Staartjes 81 (1 March 1938 - 12 January 2020)

Passed away due to injuries he received in a car crash last friday in my city, Leeuwarden.
Often called the father and pioneer of Dutch television for children. I grew up on his shows.
He also presented the arrival Saint Nicholas for many years and was the director and/or actor for several kids shows.
Most famous for his regular role in the Dutch Sesamstraat (Sesamestreet).

Singer-songwriter David Olney has died at age 71, after falling silent and dropping his head in the midst of a performance at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Saturday night.

Some news reports said he "collapsed" on stage, but that isn't quite true: Olney simply became still on his stool, leading some audience members and even the musicians beside him to think he was simply taking a pause, before they realized what had happened and lowered him to the stage.

I don't know the artist but seems to me it's the way to go ....doing what he loved in front of an audience.

Singer-songwriter David Olney dies on stage at age 71
By Theresa Waldrop and Carma Hassan, CNN

(CNN)Americana singer and songwriter David Olney, whose music was recorded by Linda Ronstadt, Steve Young, Emmylou Harris and others, died of an apparent heart attack while performing on stage in Florida Saturday, according to a statement on his website. He was 71.

Olney stopped in the middle of a song and paused, said "I'm sorry," and "put his chin to his chest," said fellow singer-songwriter Scott Miller, who was performing with Olney at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Santa Rosa Beach.
"He never dropped his guitar or fell (off) his stool," Miller wrote on Facebook. "It was as easy and gentle as he was."

:( :( Back in August Mrs B and I were sat at a picnic table during the Lambeth Country Show when a lady and her daughter asked if they could share the table. We said of course and they brought a gentleman in a wheelchair to the table. He was very old looking and stared vacantly whilst they gave him a lunch of soft food which he half-heartedly pecked at.
He looked familiar and it suddenly dawned on me that it was Terry Jones. It was heartbreaking. His wife and daughter were busy making sure he was comfy and shaded from the sun, but he, Terry Jones, was gone and just a vacant shell was left. Tragic. Dementia is a cruel disease. :nono:

Cruel to the family and friends...maybe not to the person with it. My mum was a happy and healthy vegetable for years. Participated in sing alongs, made new friends....had no past.
