I've just downloaded the archive. My rar archive tool says there's only one file in the archive, a 16K file called "1-1.html". What's going on?

I tried a different rar archive tool. Seems to be working now. It's currently unpacking that 6 gigs of data.

Just out of curiosity, how long does it take to unpack this archive? Only the unpacker isn't giving me any clues about this

...Oh wait, it's crashed. Try again ...

Unpacking the whole archive takes about 30 minutes on my computer using WinRAR.

I use 7Zip - no problems.

@Calilasseia You are doing too much science on your computer. It is now too clever for such trivial tasks as unpacking a file archive ;-P

Could some kind person provide an Idiots' Guide on how to access the old forum?

Using http://www.neunbeere.de/RDForum/users.html I can certainly get to what looks like a good list of my own postings, but I'm not clear about how to get to the messages themselves.

In my case, I look at the list of topics, and say to myself: Heavens! What did I say about that?

Can I easily satisfy my curiosity? Simply clicking on the reference invariably brings up a 'General Error' message.

Will,
If you go to the link here and follow NineBerry's instructions, it will take about 30 mins to unpack the downloaded file to about 5.335Gb using the free '7-zip' link. Make sure you have enough room on your hard-disk!

Sadly, the original forum on the RDF website doesn't work any more. So you need to download the whole package as described here: http://www.rationalskepticism.org/gener ... l#p1893937

Ah, it was good fun. With about 85,000 members there was no end of chew-toys to play with...

I hardly ever moved out of the religion section.

It's a good, clean feeling, isn't it?

Funnily enough, your name shows up in NB's index in the OP. Mine doesn't. :dunno:

This online index was limited to users with more than n posts where n was something like 300 or so. Maybe you had less than n posts. You should be in the full download, though.
