User based Index for old RDF Forum

#1  Postby NineBerry » Dec 17, 2013 2:01 pm

Since I have been asked via PM for this, I thought it would be time to remind everybody who could maybe need it of my user based Index for the old Richard Dawkins Forum.

The forum is still up but you cannot use its search functionality, meaning you also cannot get a list of every thread by a certain user. As a workaround you can use this external index: http://www.neunbeere.de/RDForum/users.html

Some of the links don't lead to the right place within the thread because some posts were deleted after I created the index, but you should find the posts some pages back or ahead within the thread. Most links should work directly, though.

Excellent. I've just tried looking at a few posts from my old user account and a couple of others. So far, every one I've tried leads to the correct point in the thread. This will be useful.

I've been looking for a specific paper I cited over there concerning magnetic reversals recorded in fossil chitin, and thanks to this I have it back in my collection.

Thanks NineBerry!

Reminder: There is also a full archive of RDF available :

Here's the download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/224795/RD/Full-RDF.rar

The download is 653 MB.
The unpacked version needs approx. 6 GB.

You need an unpacker to unpack the rar-file, e.g. http://www.7-zip.org/

When unpacked, start by opening index.html.

Is it right that it's asking me to log in? No way I'd know my password :shock:

I had to try a few of my old passwords before I hit in the one that used there.

Has nothing to do with the index. The same happens when starting to browse on the old RDF start page. According to the error message, someone at RDF has actually deleted the database table which contained all of the actual post content.

That's why I put the reminder about the full archive download here: http://www.rationalskepticism.org/gener ... l#p1893937 ;-)

This is what I get on any entry that I select:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Table 'db95332_forum.phpbb_posts' doesn't exist [1146]

SQL

SELECT p.post_id FROM phpbb_posts p WHERE p.topic_id = 1466 AND p.post_approved = 1 ORDER BY p.post_time ASC LIMIT 10

BACKTRACE

FILE: includes/db/mysql.php
LINE: 174
CALL: dbal->sql_error()

FILE: includes/db/mysql.php
LINE: 221
CALL: dbal_mysql->sql_query()

FILE: includes/db/dbal.php
LINE: 170
CALL: dbal_mysql->_sql_query_limit()

FILE: viewtopic.php
LINE: 896
CALL: dbal->sql_query_limit()

Have they all been deleted?

That would be a shame and sounds a bit vindictive if that is true.

Downloaded and unpacked: 5.335Gb.

Now, I know that I had racked-up about 4600 posts (peanuts by some people standards, I know), but this archive only shows 2609 posts against my moniker. :scratch:

Gawd! I've just been reading some of my old posts. The memories came flooding back. With all due respects to RatSkep, I do miss the 'to and fro' of the RDF forum.
