Critical Thinking Humour

#1  Postby Durro » Mar 01, 2010 2:39 am

Here's a collection of some of the most popular irreverent humour links associated with religion, mysticism and various brands of woo I've come across. They may be funny or sarcastic, but they do make very valid points. Suggestions for any additions would be most welcome. I'll be pointing the new forum members here as part of my welcome to them.

Warning : Some linked videos may contain strong language or material that may offend some members.

:zombie: If a suicide bomber could be endearing, it would be this guy... Achmed the Dead Terrorist!!!
( :silenced: Silence, I kill you! )

 Everyone's favourite god, Mr Deity, explains just what he does with prayers.

:-D Stand up comedian, Lewis Black explains religion

 Another stand up, George Carlin, also explains why religion is BS.

:picard: An oldie but a goodie, Bill Hicks on creationism and the existence of dinosaurs

:point: Ricky Gervais on the bible

:rofl2: He's on the edge, and wants us to know God's plan, it's Hans Teeuwen

 It's a miracle ! For atheists that is... it's Mitchell and Webb and the miracle of the watermelon seeds.

 America's "Best" Christian, Betty Bowers, explains just what a Bible Based marriage is.

:nanana: Deliberately bad Internet Poe, Edward Current does a take off of science as a religion and God only appears non-existent.

 Fancy being taken to a Homeopathic Emergency Department ?

:flowers: What's that smell ? It's Billy Connolly talking about Aromatherapy

 Derren Brown gives some insight into the fraud that is Astrology and shows How Mediums Work.

:nono: Infamous creationist, Ray "Banana Man" Comfort, explains why Bananas are Evidence for God. But don't worry, it is thoroughly debunked here.

:priest: And finally, oldies but goodies...Classic comedy routines of catholic guilt by the legendary Dave Allen ... Nuns & Blessings, Adam & Eveand Self Abuse.

I hope that everyone enjoys these light hearted (and sometimes informative !) videos. And to the new members, once again, welcome to RationalSkepticism !

My personal favorite is Youtube's SoldierInGodsArmy. His account is no longer active, but there are mirrors of his video.

Here's some of his videos:

Achmed the dead terrorist is painfully awful. "Silence, I kill you". Hahahaha, it's funny because he's a homocidal maniac. He terrorises my intelligence.

There are plenty of good podcasts that take a humourous look at the news and events occuring in the world of pseudoscience and religion. I would heartily recommend the two podcasts which are produced by the Merseyside Skeptics Society, 'Skeptics with a k' and 'Inkredulous'. All past episodes can be found here: http://www.merseysideskeptics.org.uk/podcasts/

How could you not mention sky cake?

Or the NonStampCollector?

Or Steve Hughes?

Frankly, I'm offended.

This series is good...and the song that plays in the background of the first one had me laughing until I cried. I thought it was a "standard" country christian song...until the chorus started...

This thread needs some Dara O'Briain. It's not just about homoeopathy, he expresses frustration with woo in general.
