If someone were convincing people with low intelligence(or people suffering psychological delusions) to engage in self harm, should that be acceptable?. Objectively speaking, one of the problems with the idea of free speech is that it presumes a Descartes view of mind and body being independent. A kind of ghost in a machine. People dont have equal capacity to reason, hence people sometimes end up becoming homeless even if they won a lottery for millions of dollars. Any objective judgement must take into account the new ideas from science, free will is not real and hence the libertarian free will should be abandoned in society. The Descartes view must also be abandoned, I often sense even atheists talk as if this mind body dualism were true and this hurts the concept of self control and lots of problems in society happen because people dont acknowledge that there are limits to them being capable of holding onto their convictions, they cant do it always in all situations. They need rest, breaks ,food and social company of others to even enjoy modest success in life.I would have been so much better if someone told me the importance of social life on cognition, success and self control. I used to believe in mind body dualism and it literally wreaked my life.Because I thought only intelligence mattered and social life was nonsense, being an introvert, that harmed me a whole lot more in my career. This one idea of mind body dualism hurt me more than any religion in the world. We must stop people from self harm by banning people whose views are clearly without any scientific credibility.Every time we abandon from that principle, we will do more harm than good to society.
