Jeebus' first miracle was changing water into wine, and he advocated regular drinking of wine (and eating of bread) at the last supper.

OK, I thought that was non-alcoholic wine, aka grape juice.

That is one Christian apologetic assertion at any rate. Claiming that this "wine" is different than the alcoholic "wine that moveth."
I see no actual justification for this claim of non-alcoholic wine in the texts themselves though. So just yet another case of apologists making shit up for doctrine I suspect. :dunno:

Something to do with not consuming strong drink or something in the Bible.

Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. (So whisky, gin, rum, etc. are NOT OK! )

Romans 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (So whisky, gin, rum, etc. are OK! ;) )

What about Malibu? Surely that's the taste of paradise itself?

I'm not, I'm calling it holy. See that verse in Romans proves that Jesus went to India. Isn't that amazing evidence.

Hmmm. :ask:

"Romans 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak."

So the RC eucharist (...in which all 'good' cafflicks must believe that the wafer becomes actual flesh, via transubstantiation...) is sinful. (The wine's ok, cos that's not wine; it's blood! )

So if they believe in transubstantiation, they eat flesh which is wrong. If they don't believe in transubstantiation (in itself a sin) they drink wine, which is wrong.

The poor cafflicks are fucked either way.

Quite right too. Mere consensus is no basis for determining reality. However, if everyone experiences the hardness of a piece of wood, the wetness of a raindrop, and the coldness of an icicle, we can reasonably determine that these properties exist in reality. In addition, we can subject these things to scientific scrutiny, making various measurements & observations, that can then be checked by everyone. We can re-run said observations & measurements, and check the consistency of results over time & place. We could infact achieve unanimity on these matters.

Possibly.
And unanimity is something rather different from mere consensus.

Are we all agreed on that?
