The purpose of religion in society is to find an alternative to the view that we are just passing through this
world and there is no objective meaning to our existence in the grand scheme of things. A purpose which I
hasten to add is rather superfluous to requirement but which remains very convincing and enduring within
society. Now every one is entitled to their own illusion though I prefer reality as it is not as I want it to be

Oh, another of his many assertions. Reproduced here:

Though the same "powerful methods of analysis" also appear not to extend to spelling "Rosicrucianism" correctly ... :)

I used to be a Freemason many years ago. I used to go to meetings. :snooty:

Still got my funny apron somewhere. But when they talked about some mystical entity that was 'in charge' but 'oh no, we don't mean God', I didn't bother any more. (They claimed that God was not part of the Freemason rituals because they were open to everyone - yeah, right!).

Didn't see any dolphins, though.
I have NO BELIEF in the existence of a God or gods. I do not have to offer evidence nor do I have to determine absence of evidence because I do not ASSERT that a God does or does not or gods do or do not exist.

Their powers of disguise are awesome.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

At last an interesting response, prey tell, what do you know of the freemasons deities.

Are we talking, Children of the light, ghosty spooky things, occult type stuff, or what.

There are no Freemason 'deities'. Each Freemason is responsible for his own beliefs or non-beliefs, as far as I can tell. And of course obeisance to Freemasonry...

Hi Alan

You have a contradiction on your posts "But when they talked about some mystical entity that was 'in charge' but 'oh no, we don't mean God',"

I have read a little on freemasonry.

Are you not telling us a "little something".

If one was to read all the hits I have been taking on this forum, you might think I am not from this world.

I note you do not believe in a god.

Do you believe in an after life.

Metaphysics etc.

That is why I left - mumbo-jumbo.

Meaning?

Do you believe in an after life.

What mumbo jumbo were they talking about, what is it they believe.

Transmigration, Submitting to deities, what do the freemasons believe in.

Haven't a clue and I'm not interested.

I did not mean to offend you.

What I was trying to ask you was: What did you think the freemasons you were involved with believed. I understand both freemasons and ex freemasons don't like too talk about it in public.

I asked the question above do the people in charge of religion and politics actually believe what they preach. Many are freemasons who may, be taking orders from none elected bodies working in the background of society. They may also have links with the catholic church. (The holy roman empire.) They may also be practising an additional religion to that which they preach.

This whole time the dolphins are slowly insinuating their charming bottle noses into every aspet of society, and you do nothing.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.

I would suspect you know nothing of dolphins and have never swam with them. I also suspect you know little about life and are struggling to keep your pathetic attention seeking head above water. Your responses are pathetic as I suspect you are in life and in everything you have ever done or will achieve.

Attention seeking in adults is often an indication of child hood abuse, were you abused? do you want to talk about that instead of anything related to this or any other thread. If so you are on your own, I am not a head shrink. Perhaps some one else can help you. :ill:

Well that was an unexpectedly violent response to an innocuous comment.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.

No one has to be respectful to anyone. But if you want to be disrespectful, try humor.

Oh you don't have to be respectful to anyone, but you do have to adhere to the forum's FUA. You agreed to do so when you signed up.
